User profile:

The uv-comb is applicable for adults without age limit who are able to hold the device above the head for
several minutes.

Safety information

Make sure the unit is used in accordance with the operating instructions.
•
In order to use the device a Doctor needs to be consulted in advance so as to make a clear diagnosis
•
and an individual therapy plan with information about the UV-spectrum and the UV-dosage adapted to
the needs of the patient.
The dosage can only be defined and given by the treating physician.
•
In case of improper handlings particularly over dosage UV-radiation may cause serious damage of
•
health such as erythema (sunburn), conjunctivitis and keratitis (inflammation of the retina).
If despite all the precautions taken an erythema occurs (or another side effect) the treating doctor
•
should, be consulted immediately. The further treatment can only be continued after the erythema has
disappeared completely.
The patient e.g. user is only allowed to take supplementary medication before and after the therapy if
•
it's approved by the treating doctor. Disregard may cause heavy side effects and health damages.
Non-professional user should contact the manufacturer – in order to get help for the activation if
•
necessary for the usage and maintenance of the device or – in order to report unexpected incidents.
Make sure any repairs are only performed by the manufacturer or an authorized specialist.
•
Make sure the electrical connections and the power supply comply with all applicable regulations.
•
Make sure that the device is only being used in dry and non-hazardous areas. Protect against
•
moisture.
The handheld device must be treated carefully and must not be dropped. If the device drops on the
•
floor from a distance of 25 cm, the UV-lamp or the casing might get damaged. Since this could lead to
security risks, the damage should be send in with sufficient postage to the manufacturer in order to get
a safety check.
The built in lamp has an expected maximum lifespan of 400 operating hours, e.g. 4 years, depending
•
on the intensity of use. If the limit of the values are exceeded the UV-lamp needs to be exchanged by
the manufacturer.
With increase of the operation hours the UV-performance of the lamps decreases steadily. Therefore
•
the user of the device needs to check the impact of the dosage-time-scheme from time to time in order
to possibly compensate through slightly prolongation of the exposure time. In cases of uncertainty,
please turn to the manufacturer.
If the comb is being stored or transported below a temperate level of 10 C, it needs to be adjusted to
•
room temperature in the first place since the UV-lamp might otherwise not reach the necessary
operation temperature. In order to make sure that the UV comb gives the optimum radiant power from
the beginning on the device should be switched on for about 2 minutes before being used so as to
reach the operating temperature.
The user and all persons nearby need to wear appropriate UV-protection goggles (e.g. UV-goggles
•
article delivered along with the device.)
During the treatment all untreated areas need to be covered (by clothes e.g.)
•
The device may not be used by children without supervision and must be kept out of their reach in a
•
safe spot.
There is a danger of strangulation by the power cable.
•
Choking hazard, such as from small parts that come loose, which may be swallowed by a child and
•
make the child choke.
