b. For electrical devices with attachment type Y: If it becomes necessary to replace the
power cord, then the cord must be replaced by the manufacturer or his authorized
representative in order to avoid safety hazards.
c. Regular cleaning, maintenance, and lubrication contribute to longer service life of
the power tool.
6. Special safety instructions for electric chain saws
a. Keep all body parts away from the chain while it is running. Prior to starting
the saw, make sure nothing is touching the chain. When working with chain saws,
one moment of inattentiveness may lead to clothing or body parts getting caught
in the chain.
b. Always hold the rear grip with your right hand and the front grip with your left
hand. Gripping the chain the other way around increases the risk of injuries and
must be avoided.
c. Wear protective goggles and hearing protection.

protective clothing reduces the risk of injury through flying wood chips and accidental
touching of the chain.
d. Do not work up in a tree with the chain saw. Operating the chain saw in a tree
poses a risk of injury.
e. Always ensure you have a solid stance and only use the chain saw when standing
on firm, safe and level ground. A slippery ground or instable standing surfaces like
on a ladder may cause you to lose your balance and/or control over the chain saw.
f. When cutting a branch under tension, expect it to spring back. When the tension
in the wood fibres is released, the tensed branch may hit the chain saw operator and
cause him/her to lose control over the chain saw.
g. Be especially careful when cutting underbrush and young trees. The thin material
may become caught in the chain and hit you or cause you to lose your balance.
h. Carry the chain saw on the front handle when it is turned off, and make sure
the chain points away from your body. When transporting or storing the chain
saw, always cover it with the protective cover. Careful handling of the chain saw
reduces the likeliness of accidentally touching the running chain.
i. Observe the instructions for lubrication, chain tension and exchanging
accessories. An improperly tensioned or lubricated chain may either rip or increase
the risk of recoil.
Keep the handles dry and free of oil or grease. Fatty or oily handles are slippery

and result in loss of control.
k. Only intended for sawing wood. Do not use the pruner for work for which it is
not intended. For example: Never use the blade to cut plastic, stone or building
materials not made of wood. Using the pruner for another than its intended purpo-
se may lead to dangerous situations.
