3. Safety instructions

3.1 Safety clearance LED class 1M (eye safety)

When operating in dark areas and with direct view to the system's front radiating
surface, you must keep a safety clearance of 1 m.
The retina would be in danger if the front panel of the switched-on illuminator was
examined with optical tools, e.g. a magnifying glass. Since there is no technical
reason for this kind of examinations, they are to be refrained of.
Make sure to lay the connection cable in a way that it doesn't get damaged
mechanically. Please respect the corresponding regulations.
Only the manufacturer is allowed to exchange the connection cable (if required).
The system must only be operated electronically if it isn't damaged.
Subsequent colouring or other kinds of surface manipulation will influence the
performance of the system. This would invalidate the warranty.
Only the manufacturer is allowed to repair the system. If the system isn't operating
properly, please contact your supplier.

3.2 General note on IR-LEDs

The range of the built-in IR-LEDs strongly depends on the location and the surroundings.
Strongly absorbent surfaces, e.g. dark, rough structures (floor, lawn or asphalt), may lead to
a considerable reduction of the maximum range.
Strongly reflecting surfaces, e.g. bright, even structures within the scene to be recorded, may
lead to an irradiation of the picture. Like for white light, the light cone of the IR illuminator
should always point away from the camera (i.e. no direct IR light pointed at the camera).
The monochromatic light of the IR-LEDs lead to a considerable contrast reduction of the
recorded pictures. IR-illuminators are available with different radiation characteristics. The
illuminators' angle of beams are to be aligned with the focal lengths of the used lenses. The
angle of radiation is, amongst others, depending on the surrounding.
