INSTALLATION
DESCRIPTION
The 2520/2520FM is a microprocessor-basedglass break detectorutilizi
dualfrequency analysis to detectthecomrmnsounds of shatterinq glass
acoustical shock when a window is broken. The detector's sensitivity is pre-
setbythemanufacturer s othat noadjustment i s required duringinstallation.
Thealarmindicator o nthe detectormaybeprogrammed for memory or
autoreset w itha configuration jumperinsidethedetector. (SeeIllustr. A").
The 2520/2520FM Glass Break Detector has been proven through testing to
detectthe breakageof glassWpesas indicatedin t'le applications sections.
APPLICATIONS
The2520/2520FM will protect1/8"(3mm)and 1/4"(6mm)plateglassand
1/4" (6mm)temperedand laminatedglassat a range of up to 25 feet (7.6m).
Room acoustics will affect the range of a glass break detector. It is very
important thatthedetection rangeisverified usingtheproper t estprocedures.
The 2520/2520FM should be connected to a listed control panel or power

INSTALLATION
Mountthe 25202520FM on the ceilin or wall with the most openand direct
acoustic pathto theprotected giass.( eeIllustrations B & C). Keepanopen
fieldbetween theglassbreakdetector a ndpointsof entry(nopartitions, walls,
etc.between the detectorandtheprotected glass.)Whilethe2520/2520FM
maybemounted onanywailor ceiling, a 40%reduction inrangeis expected
whénmounting on the samewall as the glass. Drapesand window
coverings will affectthe detectionrange.Usethe GBS25Glassbreak

specificprogram of frequenttesting(at leastweekly)to insuce the system's
operation at all times.
WARNING
THE LIMITATIONS OF YOUR GLASS BREAK DETECTOR
While this Glass Break Detector is a highly reliable intrusion detection
device, it does not offer guaranteed protection against burglary. Any
intrusion detection deviceis subjectto compromise or failureto wamfora

For
Intruders maygain access t hrough unprotected openings orhave the
technical sophistication to bypass an alarm sensor or disconnect an
alarm warning device.
This detectorcannotoperate properlyif it is not installedin accordance
with the instructionsin this installationmanual or the control to which it
is connected is not operative (because of lack of power, malfunction,
etc.)
This detector cannot sense intrusion when the attack occurs outside of
itsspecified p rotection r ange orif itsDCelectrical power s ource isoff,
missing,dead, or insufficientlyfiltered.
Thisequipment, l ike otherelectricaldevices,is subjectto component
failure. Eventhoughthis equipment i s désignedto lastas Jong as 10

The most common cause of an alarm system not functioning when an
intrusionoccurs Is inadequatemaintenance. This device, and the alarm
system to which it isconnected, should betested weekly to make sureall
is working properly.
