SERVICE
Typ: LM-RV
GB
In rooms with movable partitions (curtains etc.) the room combination
module LM-RV allows the use of control units depending on the
partition position:
• if the partition is closed the control units control only their
separate room area
• if the partition is open the control units are responsible for the
combined area.
One LM-RV can manage 2 partitions.
Use
One LM-RV module can manage two partitions, i.e. it contains two
identical operating units, each responsible for one partition (WI and
WII). The position of the partition is detected using a partition switch
(proximity switch, microswitch, etc.), which is closed when the parti-
tion is open (and vice versa).
Each of the two operating units then has two inputs for each adja-
cent room area (K1 and K2 for WI; K3 and K4 for WII). After correct
addressing, the inputs are connected together and then connected
to the partition switch.
The LM-RV transforms switching and dimming commands from
control devices in one room area into the same commands for the
adjacent area if the partition switch is closed.
The LM-RV addressing determines from which room area (room or
room-group) and to which area the commands are translated. Any
combination of room and room-group is possible. Scene recalls and
dimming/ moving commands are copied by the LM-RV.
If the partition switch is open, the module stays inactive.
The partition switch is operated at 230V/50 Hz.
Important
The partition switches in use must be closed when the partition wall
is open, and vice versa.
Addressing
The four inputs K1 to K4 - two per operational unit WI and WII resp.
- are addressed in the same way as known from the switch input
modules LM-SxE.
Room area 1 and room area 2 shall be combined by partition
switch WI:
• set LM-EG to the room number of area 1
• activate status "adressing control units" with the LM-EG
• short circuit input K1 of the LM-RV 2-3x
• address input K1 with the LM-EG:
G = 0 for copying room commands*
G > 0 for copying room and group commands*

room combination module LM-RV
• now set LM-EG to the room number of area 2
• activate status "adressing control units" with the LM-EG
• short circuit input K2 of the LM-RV 2-3x
• address input K2 with the LM-EG
• connect K1 and K2 with a wire bridge
• connect partition switch WI to K1/K2
WII is addressed in the same way as WI but with K3 and K4
respectively.
* Please mind notes 1) and 2).
For detailed information on operating LM-EG please refer to
programming manual.
Example
A main room - partitioned by two wall WI and WII - is made up of
three room sections R1, R2 and R3, with an LM-SG unit installed in
each.
If the LM-RV is required to combine the rooms having room num-
bers R1 and R2, then K1 is sent the address R01G00, whilst K2 is
sent R02G00.
If, moreover, scene recalls and dimming commands in room 2 are
to affect group 3 in room 3, K3 gets addressed R02G00 while K4
gets R03G03.
Now, if both partition switches WI and WII are closed (i.e. partitions
open), the light level in rooms 1 and 2 is changed when group 3 in
room 3 is dimmed.
Notes
1) If the inputs of the LM-RV are addressed as room switches (e.g.
K1 with address R01G00 and K2 with R02G00) only room
commands are copied whereas those addressed to groups and
single modules are not. Similarly, commands addressed to single
modules are not copied when using group switches (e.g. K1 with
address R01G01 and K2 with R02G02). However, in the latter
case group 2 in room 2 is affected when operating on the whole
room 1.
2) When working out the addressing scheme for a LUXMATE
installtion, please consider the effects of the LM-RV coupling
function: For instance, when using daylight-based control of the
illumination with LM-TLS in those areas which are combined by
LM-RV an appropriate addressing has to done to avoid interfe-
rence.
3) Any number of successive rooms with intervening partitions can
be connected together using more than one LM-RV. For free-
positioned partitions (e.g. circular), the conference room computer
must be used instead of the LM-RV, running the special software
"LM conference room management".
