The outer circle marks the celestial equator. Depending on your location, you can see some constellations, but not all that
are south of the celestial equator.
Circles on the sky disc:
In the transparent part of the sky disc there is a curved line from east to west. Where this line crosses the north/south line,
there is the zenith, which is the point directly over your head.
Outside the edge of the transparent part there are three lines marking the twilight. As the sun sinks deeper below the hori-
zon, the sky is getting darker and more stars become visible. To mark the progress of twilight (and the darkness of the sky,
twilight is called standard, nautical or astronomical. Only at astronomical twilight the sky is completely dark.
In the northern parts of Europe the sun will not sink deep below the horizon in summer. Around June 21st, a persistent
twilight glow will always be visible around midnight on the northern horizon.
