OBD2 Diagnostic Scanner AMiO 04729
SAFETY WARNINGS
1. To avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle or tools, read
this manual and follow the safety precautions below:
2. Perform vehicle diagnostic tests in a safe environment.
3. Use protective equipment required by applicable standards.
4. Keep clothing, hair, hands, tools, and test equipment away from
moving or hot engine parts.
5. Start the vehicle only in a well-ventilated area: exhaust gases are
toxic.
6. Place blocks in front of the drive wheels and never leave the vehi-
cle unattended while the engine is running.
7. Be especially careful when working near the ignition coil, distrib-
utor cap, ignition wires, and spark plugs. These parts generate
dangerous voltages when the engine is running.
8. Engage parking mode (for automatic transmissions) or set the
gear to neutral (for manual transmissions) and ensure the hand-
brake is applied.
9. Keep a fire extinguisher suitable for gasoline, chemical, or elec-
trical fires nearby.
10. Do not connect or disconnect any test equipment with the igni-
tion on or the engine running.
11. Keep the scanning device dry and clean. Use a mild cleaner on a
soft cloth to clean the scanner exterior when necessary.
OPERATING THE DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER
1. OBD2 Connector – connects the scanner to the vehicle data port
(diagnostic socket).
2. LCD Display – shows menu and test results.
3. ESC Button – returns to the previous menu.
4. Scroll Button – scrolls through menu items; also enters the set-
tings menu when pressed.

NAVIGATION SYMBOLS
Symbols used to navigate in the code reader:
• ">" – indicates the current selection.
• "PD" – indicates pending diagnostic codes during code display.
• "S" – indicates the control module number from which data was
retrieved.
POWER SUPPLY
The scanner is powered via the vehicle data connector (diagnostic
socket). Follow these steps to connect the scanner to power:
• Connect the OBD2 cable to the scanner.
• Locate the diagnostic socket in the vehicle.
• Some vehicles may have a plastic cover over the diagnostic socket
which must be removed before connecting the OBD2 cable.
• Connect the OBD2 cable to the vehicle diagnostic socket.
OBD2 DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTIONS
1. When the scanner detects multiple vehicle control modules,
a prompt appears to select the module from which to retrieve
data. The most commonly selected are: Powertrain Control Mod-
ule [PCM] and Transmission Control Module [TCM].
2. Note: Do not connect or disconnect diagnostic devices with the
ignition on or engine running.
3. Turn off the ignition.
4. Locate the vehicle's 16-pin diagnostic connector (DLC).
5. Connect the OBD2 cable to the vehicle's diagnostic connector.
6. Turn on the ignition. The engine may be off or running.
7. Press the ENTER/EXIT button to enter the diagnostic menu. The
display will show a list of OBD2 protocols until the vehicle proto-
col is detected.
8. If the reader cannot connect to the ECU (engine control unit), the
screen will show "LINKING ERROR!".
9. Make sure the ignition is on.
10. Check that the OBD2 connector is securely connected to the ve-
hicle's DLC socket.
11. Ensure the vehicle complies with the OBD2 standard.
12. Turn off the ignition, wait about 10 seconds. Then turn the igni-
tion back on and repeat step 7.
