SHATTERPRO@ 3 GLASSBREAK DETECTOR
DESCRIPTION
The ShattgrPro 3 is an acoustic glassbreak detector designed to detect
breaking glass from framed windows in the perimeter of a building. The
detector is mounted in the building interior and uses a power supply from a
12 VDC control panel, The detector is avallable in either a low-profile round
housing or a rectanguter housing that connects easily to a single-gang box.
SELECTING A LOCATION FOR THE DETECTOR
Mount the detector on ceilings or on walls opposite or adjacent tho window
to be protected. See Figure i. Ugg the following guidelines to determine the
best
location
to install
thc
detector.
Mount at least 1m from the glass windows bglng protected.
Windows
must bé at least 80 x 60 cm square.
Avoid locations where lined, insulating or sound deadening curtains are
used.
Mount 30cm away from wall comers.
Avoid
locations
where
interior
Locate
in a suitable
environment
Temperature
between 00 and 500C
Humidity between 10 and 90% non-conden$ing
Mount the detector on a stable surface up to 7.6 m from the farthest point
on the glass surface. See Figure 1.
Avoid EOGationsthat expose the däteetor to possible false alarm sources
such as: Glass airlocks and vestibule
garages, small utility rooms, stairwelle, bathrooms, small acoustically live
roqme,
air vents,

Tho detector has a 3600 covorago pattern that can cover several windows
in a Bingle room as follows (See Figure 2);

INSTALLINGTHE DETECTOR
All wiring must eqnfor•m to national approval$.
Important
! If you are unsure about a location, connect a 9 V battery to the
detector and test it before permanently mounting. See Testing the Detector.
To
install
the
detector:

Run the security $YStsrn wiring to the detector location.

Removo
tho

cover
as follows:
- Round housing: Press the release tab on the lip of the baee, twist
the cover counterclockwise,
• Rectangle
housing:
Gently pty up the slot on tha bonom of the
cover to unlock the cover. Lift up the cover until it latches in the open
po$ition.

Set tho range with J3 on tho circuit board. See Setting tha Range.

Remove the appropriate
wiring and mounting knockout holes from the
base. See Figure 4.
pull the wires through the knockout holes and use two screws to attach

Strip 1 cm of insulation from each wire.

Connect the system wires to the appropriate screw terrninal$ on the base

and tighten the screws.

Replace the cover as follows:
- Round
housing:
Line up the tabs on the basc with the correspond-
ing tabs on the cover, press together and tum clockwise
cover snaps firmly into place. Sae Figure 3,
Rectangle
housing:
Press the covar back down over the detector
until the cover snaps firmly into place.

Apply power. Thé rad LED should flash once.
