USE INSTRUCTIONS
First Time Use
1. Turn QuickTalker FT 23 over, and remove the battery cover.
2. Insert four "AA" alkaline batteries, and replace the battery cover.
3. Next, add a printed picture symbol overlay to the device. You can create custom symbol
overlays using the AbleNet Symbol Overlay Maker App found in the Apple App store.
4. Turn the QuickTalker on.
5. Select a recording level.
6. Press and hold the record button until the recording indicator light turns on, then release the
record button.
7. Press and release the desired message location. Begin speaking into the microphone to record
the message.
8. Press and release the desired message location a second time to stop recording.
9. Repeat this process for other message locations.
10. Press the record button to turn the recording indicator light off and exit record mode.
Using Core Messages
The QuickTalker has three locations for Core Messages located at the top of the message grid.
Core messages are highly useful words that are applicable across settings, and it is for this reason that
the messages recorded in these locations will remain the same across all levels.
Using Levels
The QuickTalker provides 5 recording levels for increased flexibility.
1. Use the Level Selection button on the front of the QuickTalker to select a level.
2. Hold the record button on the back of the device until the recording indicator light lights up,
then record the messages.
3. Once you have finished recording the messages for a level use the Level Selection button to
choose a different level, and record a new set of messages.
4. When done recording press the record button to exit record mode.
Clearing Messages
Clearing messages on the QuickTalker can be done in two ways. You can clear all messages for a
particular level or you can clear all messages across the device including the core messages.
To clear all messages for one level:
1. Choose the level you would like to clear.
2. Press and hold the record button for about 10 seconds. At 10 seconds the QuickTalker will
beep. This will clear the messages on the current level. Core messages and messages on other
levels will not be cleared.
To clear all messages from the QuickTalker, including core messages:
1. Press and hold the record button for 30 seconds. A series of beeps will play after 10 seconds,
continue to hold the record button. After 30 seconds, a second series of beeps will play, you
can now let go of the record button. This will erase all messages on all levels including the
Core Messages.
Locking Controls
To lock the QuickTalker FT 23 press and hold the record and level buttons simultaneously for 5
seconds. All lights will flash twice. Repeat this process to unlock the controls.
