• The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous
playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
• Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected
to the product.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are not pinched, kinked or damaged
by sharp edges.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room into a warm
one. The condensation generated could destroy the product. Allow the device to reach room
temperature before connecting and using it. This may take several hours.
• Do not place any containers filled with liquids, such as cups, buckets, vases or plants, on top
of or near the product. Liquids could enter the housing and hence affect the electric safety.
• For installations in industrial facilities, follow the accident prevention regulations for electrical
systems and equipment of the government safety organization or the corresponding authority
for your country.
• In schools, educational establishments, hobby and self-help workshops, the operation of this
product must be monitored by trained personnel.

Positioning
Make sure the sockets are easily accessible and the plugs of the network cables can be plugged
in easily.
a) Magnetic strip
Remove the film and attach the magnets to the suitable recesses on the bottom of the switch. That allows
you to attach the switch to any magnetic surface.
b) Rubber feet
Remove the film and attach the rubber feet to the bottom of the switch. That allows for stability on any flat
surface.
Connection and operation
• Connect the barrel connector of the USB cable to the suitable socket on the switch.
• Connect the USB plug to the USB port of a computer.
• The switch will conduct a self-test and for a moment all LEDs light up. Once there is only the Power LED
lighting up steadily, the switch is ready for use.
• Connect the switch's RJ45 ports to the corresponding sockets on your computer using suitable network
cables. You can also connect other devices with a network connection - such as TVs, satellite receivers
or games consoles - to the switch.
• As soon as a device is connected to one of the ports and turned on, the corresponding LED on the switch
lights up. The corresponding LED flashes during data transfer.
The switch has an automatic uplink recognition on each port. This makes cabling to other
switches especially easy. A cross link cable is no longer necessary, a normal 1:1 connected
network cable can be used.
Tips and notes
• If you have a network or system administrator for your network (i.e. in a larger company), ask him/her to set
up the cables and connections. Do not connect the switch by yourself in such case.
• The twisted pair cable (also called patch cable) between the switch and the device to be connected may
not exceed 100 m. Only use fully-wired (this means all eight of the RJ45 plug's contacts are connected
1:1) CAT5e cables or better.
• The maximum theoretical data transfer speed of 10 or 100 Mbit/s is generally not reached in practice (for
example 100 Mbit = approx. 12.5 MB). The data transfer via network includes transferring data as well as
protocol information, etc. In addition to that, data packets must be repeated, or several computers attempt
to transfer data simultaneously.
• If the switch is not supplied with power, all connections are out of service and a network connection cannot
be made.
• We recommend labeling the network cables to ease troubleshooting in the event of a malfunction. You
could use stickers or network cables of different colours.
Cleaning and care
• Disconnect all cables from the product before each cleaning.
• Under no circumstances use aggressive cleanings agents, cleaning alcohol or other chemical solutions
since these can penetrate the housing or impair functionality.
• Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste.
