Before installing the load arrestor confirm that there will always be a clearance
of at least 2m under the load.
No additional sling or device can be between the load and the Load Arrestor
cable.
The working stroke of the load must not exceed the maximum length of the
Load Arrestor cable.
In a case of fall, the load will be stopped. The damaged or broken fall indicator
will indicate that the fall has occurred. See Figure 2:
1. Fall indicator before fall.
2. Fall indicator after fall.
After a fall, the load arrestor must be serviced immediately.
In the event of a fall, the load must be secured and then raised by 10 cm in
order to disengage the Load Arrestor. While using the Load Arrestor, provide
enough working space to permit this to be done if a fall does occur.
See Figure 3 for installation restrictions.

4 Inspection Prior to Each Use:

• Confirm that unit installation meets requirements described in 3 Installation.
• Remove from service if:
- The housing or top swivel are distorted.
- There is excessive wear of the cable guide.
- The cable bumper stop is missing.
- The internal spring does not maintain adequate cable tension.
- Labels are missing or illegible.
• Check the engagement of the pawls. The cable must be arrested (locks) when
it is pulled quickly and must remain arrested while the force used to pull the
cable remains. See figure 4:
1. Pull Quickly.
2. Cable ''Locks.''
• Confirm that the fall indicator has not been activated. (See Figure 2.) Never
use a Load Arrestor that has arrested a fall until it has been serviced.
• Confirm that there is no damage to the cable over its entire length:
- Install the Load Arrestor (preferably in a vertical position). Make certain
that persons in the surrounding area are a safe distance away and
that they have been provided with protective gloves. Pull the cable out
completely and check the following in Figure 5:
1. There is no excessive corrosion in the cable.
2. None of the wires in the cable are broken.
3. The ferrules are not damaged.
4. Confirm that the fall indicator is intact and that the pin is neither broken nor
completely distorted. (Refer to Figure 2.)
5. The cable bumper stop is in place and tightened properly (not loose).
