2.1. Safety instructions
• Before use, ensure that the PCE GATEWAY Energy Manager, the power supply unit and the
WARNING
connected peripheral devices are in a proper and safe condition. If there is any damage to the
power supply unit, the cable or the housing of the PCE GATEWAY Energy Manager, the product
must not be used. If a defect is detected during operation, the device must be disconnected
from the mains immediately.
• The PCE GATEWAY Energy Manager may only be used in dry indoor areas.
• Make sure the cables are laid securely and do not kink them.
• The PCE GATEWAY Energy Manager is not intended for charging functions.
CAUTION
• Disconnect the mains plug before cleaning. Clean the PCE GATEWAY Energy Manager only from
the outside with a slightly damp and soft cloth. Never use aggressive cleaning products, petrol or
similar.
• Only the supplied power supply unit may be used. The product does not have a mains switch and

may only be used on easily accessible sockets so that it can be removed quickly in an emergency
and after use. Voltage-free only when the plug is disconnected. Pull the plug directly from the
plug housing in an emergency, after use and during a thunderstorm.
• The appliance must not be opened by a layperson.
• CAUTION: Reversing the polarity of the RS485 connection terminals can damage the PCE
GATEWAY Energy Manager. Always observe the installation instructions.
• Always follow the detailled installation instructions..
• The type plate is located on the underside of the PCE GATEWAY Energy Manager.
2.2. Explanation of symbols
This symbol indicates the IP rating of the device.
This symbol indicates that the manufacturer complies with the
effective product specifications as stipulated in the Community
Harmonisation Legislation of the European Union.
This symbol denotes the method of disposal: Devices with this
symbol may not be disposed with the household waste but
need to be taken to the local collection point for electric and
electronic waste. Please make sure to dispose of this device
at such a collection point.
This is the international symbol for recycling and denotes re-
usable goods. Please ensure sorted disposal of the packaging
of this device.

4.1. Connect the GATEWAY to the mains
using the USB-C power adapter supplied.
4.2. GATEWAY status LED

Lights up BLUE
Energy manager is in operation and connected to the Internet.
Energy manager is ready for operation but not connected to the Internet.
Flashes RED
Perform WiFi setup or connect to the Internet using a LAN cable.
Flashes BLUE/RED
Energy manager is ready for operation, but the WiFi signal is very weak.
Flashes BLUE
Energy manager is in WiFi setup mode. The Bluetooth server is active.
Energy manager is booting. A restart is triggered by a reset or a software update.
Lights up GREEN
The device is then ready for operation again.
Energy manager is being restored (recovery partition).
Lights up PINK
Please do not disconnect from the mains!
