• Nyloc Nut x6
Intended Use
Medium-duty electric winch for vehicle mounting. Powered by a 12V DC power supply
such as those found in the modern automobile. Appropriate for retrieving small cars, boats
and ATV's.
Note: This winch must be used only for vehicle recovery or for pulling and lowering boats
off trailers.
Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your new tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features
and functions
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are
missing or damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool
Before Use
WARNING: ALWAYS wear suitable protective gloves when handling the winch. Not doing so
may result in cuts, or harm to the operator.
WARNING: Ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before attaching or
changing any accessories, or making any adjustments.
Roller fairlead assembly
1. Align the mounting holes on the Roller Fairlead (19) with the holes on the Roller Fairlead
Mount (18) on the Mounting Bracket (17)
2. From the inside of the Mounting Bracket, insert two 13mm Bolts (Image A) and fasten
securely using Nyloc Nuts

Clutch operation
WARNING: Do not operate the clutch when there is load present on the Cable (13).
• The clutch allows the winch to freewheel for manual adjustment of the Cable
• Disengage the clutch by moving the Clutch Lever (12) into the raised position
• Engage the clutch by moving the Clutch Lever into the lower position, so it is flush in its
seat
Bracket assembly
1. Place the Mounting Bracket (17) and Roller Fairlead (19) assembly on a secure, flat
surface
2. Place the Winch Assembly (8) behind the bracket assembly, Bracket Mounting Foot (14)
down (Image B). In preparation for feeding the Cable (13) through the Roller Fairlead (19)
3. Disengage the clutch by turning the Clutch Lever (12) so it is in the raised position. Pull
out the Cable to the full extent of its travel, and return the Clutch Lever to its lowest
position
4. Remove the Cable from the Drum (11) by unscrewing the hex screw using a 2.5mm
hex key (not provided)
5. Set aside the Cable in a secure location
6. Place the Winch Assembly on to the Mounting Bracket, ensuring the correct orientation,
and align the Bracket Mounting Feet with the four Winch Assembly Securing Holes (15)
in the Mounting Bracket (Image C)
7. Insert the Nuts (provided) into the recesses located in the Bracket Mounting Feet (Image
C), and fasten the Mounting Bracket to the Winch Assembly using the Tapered Hex Bolts
(tighten to 15 – 20Nm)
8. Feed the Cable through the Roller Fairlead and refit the end to the Drum
Note: The Cable should be pulled inwards from the bottom of the Drum (Fig. I).
Vehicle mounting
WARNING: Winch operation exerts extra stresses to the vehicle structure. Mount the
winch to a structurally-reinforced part of the vehicle such as the chassis, by means of a
vehicle specific winch mounting point, to avoid potential damage to the vehicle or injury
to the user.
Vehicles with a winch-mounting facility:
• Locate the winch-mounting area as specified in the vehicle instruction manual
1. Centralise and align the winch and bracket assembly with the mounting bracket on
the vehicle
2. Mount the winch to the vehicle using the Vehicle Fixing Holes (16) and fastening with the
13mm Bolts and Nyloc Nuts (provided)
Vehicles without a winch mounting facility:
• An appropriate winch-mounting support bracket will need to be used to securely attach
the winch to the vehicle
• When assessing how to mount the winch support bracket to the vehicle, always take
into account the structural integrity of the area to which it is to be mounted
WARNING: DO NOT attach this winch to bumpers, body panels or any other components
that are not capable of taking load from external forces.
Connecting to the power source
WARNING: ALWAYS disconnect the vehicle's battery before making adjustments to the
connections; not doing so may potentially cause excessive sparking that could injure the
operator, or short nearby electrical connections.
WARNING: When working next to, or moving lead acid batteries, ensure you are
wearing splash-resistant safety goggles and electrically-insulated gloves.
Note: If you wish to replace the supplied 12V cables with longer cables, connect cables
that are suitable for the sustained current demands, not peak/surge (see Specification).
Also make sure the insulation of the cable is correct for the environment in which the
cables will be used.
1. Carefully plan a route for the cables, from the winch to the battery. Ensure the cables
are away from elements that could cause potential damage
Note: Take extra care when choosing a path for the cables. They should be away from
components such as the exhaust system, engine block, fuel lines, brake lines and moving
suspension components, with minimal exposure to outdoor elements.
2. Connect the Negative Connector (21) to the Negative Terminal (7), then the Positive
Connector (20) to the Positive Terminal (6) by removing the nuts located on the
terminals, fitting the connectors and fastening the nuts back on snug
Note: Both the Negative Connector and Positive Connector feature rubber boots to protect
the terminals; these will need to be pulled back during installation then pushed over the
terminals.
3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal clamp followed by the positive battery terminal
clamp on the vehicle
4. Connect both the Negative Battery Connector (1) and the Positive Battery Connector (2)
to the battery terminal clamps of the vehicle
5. Reconnect the negative battery terminal clamp, followed by the positive battery terminal
Clamp, and fasten down securely
• Once the winch is connected to the power supply, the winch will become immediately
operable
