INTENDED USE
This InLine® Dual 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter is an additional card for plugging
into the computer.

GENERAL WARNINGS

Do not open the housing for installation until the power source has been
disconnected
•
Protect from dust and moisture
If the computer housing is open, live parts can be touched, there is a
risk of electric shock and the installation may have to be carried out by
a specialised company.
NON-INTENDED USE
The following is considered improper use in the sense of foreseeable misuse:
•
Install the PCIe adapter in the correct slot, otherwise the computer and card
may be damaged.
•
Avoid the occurrence of short circuits or bypasses during installation.
INTRODUCTION
This InLine® 10 Gigabit Ethernet PCIe adapter is a high performance 10G BASE-T
Ethernet LAN controller, which is perfect for home and offi ce use.
It offers a cost-effective solution for connecting to a network at a data transfer rate
of up to 10 Gb/s and can be used with any Cat.5e cabling or higher up to a maxi-
mum distance of 100 metres without any problems.
For a data transmission rate of 10 Gb/s (10GBase-T), you can use the
following patch cable categories, which allow different maximum dis-
tances:
Cat.6 - 55 metres
Cat.6a - 100 metres
Cat.8 or higher - 100 metres

Before installing and activating the interface card, please ensure that
you have a complete backup of your existing data from the hard disc.

HARDWARE INSTALLATION
1.
Switch off your computer and all external devices connected to it
2.
Disconnect your computer from the power source, unplug the power cable,
disconnect all peripheral devices
3.
Open the computer case. Refer to the computer manual for further details
4.
Locate a free PCIe slot and remove the slot bracket. Save the retaining screw
for later use
5.
Align the card horizontally to the PCIe slot and insert it fi rmly and evenly into
the slot
6.
Once you have inserted the card correctly into the slot, secure it to the com-
puter housing using the retaining screw
7.
Connect the system to the network by plugging the 8-wire Cat.5e or Cat.6
cable (not included) into the RJ45 connector on the network card
8.
Close and secure the computer housing. Switch on your computer after you
have connected all peripheral devices and the power cable
DRIVER INSTALLATION
Windows
You must have administrative rights to the operating system to install the drivers.
1.
Start Windows and insert the CD driver bound with Intel network driver into
your optical drive
2.
If the Found New Hardware Wizard screen is displayed, click Cancel
3.
Start the autorun located in the software package, the autorun may automati-
cally start after you have extracted fi les.
4.
Click install drivers and software
5.
Follow the instructions in the install wizard to fi nish it
Installing Linux drivers from source code
1.
Download and expand the base driver *.tar fi le
2.
Compile the driver module
3.
Install the module using the modprobe command
4.
Assign an IP address using the ifconfi g command
