Basic rules
a) The aim of the game
The aim of the game is to get the ball into the opponent's goal, and to keep it away from one's own goal.
The team that has won most of the individual sets, wins the total game.
b) Number of sets and goals
The number of sets to be played is decided at the beginning. A set is finished, when the first team has scored 5
goals. The teams switch sides after every set. In case only one set has been decided on, the game is over, when the first
team has obtained 7 goals.
c) Forbidden
Any shaking, shifting, or lifting of the table is forbidden. The spinning of the rods is against the rules. Spinning signifies
rotating any piece (player) by more than 360°.
d) Beginning of the game
The team that can choose between the following options – side of table or throw in – is determined by flipping a coin.
e) Throw in
At the beginning of the game the ball is sent into the field through the serving hole. The throwing player is allowed to try
to influence the game.
f) Goals
Any ball that crosses the goal line counts as a goal. The ball is allowed to bounce back onto the field.
g) Ball in the off
The ball counts as being "in the off" as soon as it touches any object (hand, floor, etc.) outside
the field. It is thrown back in by the original throwing player.
h) Dead ball
A ball is "dead" whenever it lies absolutely still, and can no more be reached by any of the pieces.
i) Winner
The team, that first scores 5 goals (7 goals in case of only one set) has won the set.
The team that has won most of the sets at the end, has won the total game.
