The descriptions in this quick start guide are based on the smartphone being set
to its default factory settings.

If you want to extend the functions provided by the smartphone, you must set-up
a Google account. A Google account can provide convenient functions, such as
automatic backup of your contacts. You can also install more apps (applications)
via Google Play. How to set-up a Google account is explained on Page 110.
The basic functions of the smartphone are available for use without a Google
account.

The applications (apps) preinstalled on your smartphone are automatically
updated when an internet connection is available. This is important and sensible
