1 Intended use
The product is a solid state drive (SSD) enclosure with a maximum transfer rate of 40 Gbps
via USB4®. The enclosure only supports SDDs of size 2280.
The product is intended for indoor use only. Do not use it outdoors.
Contact with moisture must be avoided under all circumstances.
If you use the product for purposes other than those described, the product may be dam-
aged.
Improper use can result in short circuits, fires, or other hazards.
The product complies with the statutory national and European requirements.
For safety and approval purposes, you must not rebuild and/or modify the product.
Read the operating instructions carefully and store them in a safe place. Make this product
available to third parties only together with the operating instructions.

5 Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety

5.1 General

The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. This may become dangerous
playing material for children.

If you have questions which remain unanswered by this information product, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.

Maintenance, modifications and repairs must only be completed by a technician or an
authorised repair centre.
5.2 Handling
■
Handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
5.3 Operating environment
■
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
■
Protect the appliance from extreme temperatures, strong jolts, flammable gases, steam
and solvents.
■
Protect the product from high humidity and moisture.
■
Protect the product from direct sunlight.
5.4 Operation
■
Consult an expert when in doubt about the operation, safety or connection of the
product.
■
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and pro-
tect it from any accidental use. DO NOT attempt to repair the product yourself. Safe op-
eration can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
– is visibly damaged,
– is no longer working properly,

– has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
– has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
5.5 Connected devices
■
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are con-
nected to the product.
5.6 Electrostatic discharge (ESD)
■
Ensure suitable protective measures are taken against static charge (e.g. ground strap,
non-conductive pad, etc.) when touching or inserting the SSD modules.
■
Only grasp the SSD modules on the side of the circuit board, do not touch the compon-
ents on the circuit board. Electrostatic discharges can destroy the SSDs.
6 Installing the SSD drive

Preconditions:

The SSD drive is of size 2280.
1. Ground yourself with an anti-static wrist strap to discharge electrostatic charges. Electro-
static charges could damage electronic components.
2. (If connected) Disconnect the USB-C® cable from the enclosure.
3. Remove the backings from the heat dissipation pad and stick the pad onto the SSD drive.
See fig. → 1 (B).
4. Carefully place the thermal fin over the SSD drive. --OR-- Carefully slide the SSD drive
into the thermal fin. See fig. → 1 (A).
5. Remove the screw from the bottom plate of the enclosure and remove the plate. See fig.
→ 2.
6. Connect the SSD drive and gently secure it with a screw. See fig. → 3.
7. Attach the bottom plate of the enclosure and secure it. See fig. → 4.
7 Reading and writing to the SSD drive
Important:
– To reach the max. 40 Gbps transfer rate, the computer must support USB4® and the
SSD drive must be rated at min. 40 Gbps.
– Unformatted SSD drives must be intialized and formatted via the computer disk man-
agement before they can be used.
1. Connect the USB-C® cable to the enclosure and to a USB port (min. 900 mA) on your
computer.

The drive indicator light lights up.
2. (For new drives) initialize and format the SSD drive via the computer disk management.
3. Read from and write data to the SSD drive.
4. After use, eject the drive via the system menu. Disconnect the USB-C® cable from the
computer.
8 Cleaning and care
Important:
– Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions.
They damage the housing and can cause the product to malfunction.
– Do not immerse the product in water.
1. Disconnect the enclosure from the computer.
2. Clean the product with a dry, fibre-free cloth.
