Note
Prior to installing the Loudspeaker,
these operating instructions must
be read carefully.
Application
The loudspeaker with built-in 100 V
transformer can be connected to
100 V loud speaker systems. All
outer fas tening parts have been
made of non-corrosive materials.
The stable, electrically conductive
all-plastic housing conforms to pro-
tection degree IP 66, which means
the loudspeaker can be installed
both inside and outside. Explosion
protection class allows the loud -
speaker to be operated in Ex areas
of the zones 1 and 2. Depending on
version / model, two optional con-
nections are available:
– Protection class I: equipped with a
metal accommodation for cable
glands and entries (KLE) with
armoured
cable
or
Systems
– Protection class II: equipped with
plastic cable glands and entries.
Mounting and Connection
The loudspeaker is suited for wall
and ceiling mounting. For mounting
dimensions, see the dimension illu-
stration (on page 1). The wall brak-
ket that comes with the loudspeaker
is fastened with 2 screws (Ø 6 or 8
mm). To connect loosen the lid
screw and remove the lid. The
captive lid is held by a tensile
strength reducer.
Installation
Prior to leading the connecting loud-
speaker cable through the cable
gland, 100 –130 mm of the isolation
must be removed. Within the loud-
speaker, the cable gland must close
smoothly around the end of the
connecting cable's outer isolation.
Remove 8 to 10 mm of the isolation
from the conductors of this cable,
and connect the conductors to the
terminals 1 and 2. You may choose
which side to connect. Terminal
blocks 1 and 2 are interconnected
by a jumper. See fig. 1. Loudspeakers
models of protection class I must be
connected to earth. For this purpo-
se, there are marked terminals both
inside the device and on the outer
casing. If the cable glands are instal-
led by the loud speaker user, the
instructions of the cable gland
manufacturer must be observed.
Only ATEX-certified cable glands
may be used. Ensure that the exter-
nal thread of the cable gland is
equipped with a sealing tape in
order to guarantee the protection
type (IP) of the device. If the sealing
rings of a cable gland are fastened
with a torque exceeding 20 Nm,
measures must be taken on the
loudspeaker side to secure the
cable gland against over-tightening.
Upon installing several loudspeakers
in one room, great care must be
taken to achieve correct polarity of
the connecting cable, i.e. all terminal
connections No. 1 must be con-
Conduit-
nected to each other, as must all
terminal connections No. 2. Upon
connecting several loudspeakers in
a series, the maximum rated power
should not exceed 500 W. This
means that if the rated power of
each loudspeaker is for example 15
W, a maximum of 33 loudspeakers
may be connected. Use sufficiently
long cables to facilitate positioning
of the loudspeakers.
Adjusting the volume
In the factory, the loudspeaker's
rated power has been set to its
maximum. The volume can be ad -
justed by means of the two code
cables (yellow/brown) between the
common terminals. Cable coding
and rated power, see Table 1.
Wiring within the loudspeaker
After connecting the loudspeaker,
place the single conductors of the
connecting cables flatly across the
common terminals, in the direction
of the cable gland.
Warning! To avoid the danger of
the conductors being squeezed,
they should not be laid across the
threaded lid bolt or the edge of the
seal.
Close the lid
Put the lid on. Make sure the lid sits
straight, and that the „lid fastener"
has not been placed across the
threaded lid bolt or across the sea-
ling edge. Then turn the lid screw as
far as it goes, and tighten lightly.
Position the loudspeaker
If the loudspeaker is connected to
flexible cables, following installation
it may be turned in the desired posi-
tion. Tighten both side screws of the
wall bracket. If the loudspeaker is
connected with Conduit or armoured
cable, alignment must follow during
the first step of the installation
procedure, to ensure that the
connection is not subjected to
mechanical strain.
Operating utilization position
In order to avoid a reduction of the
volume due to dust, rain water or
other foreign matter, the horn should
be mounted horizontally or vertically,
facing downwards.
Maintenance
The loudspeaker is maintenance-
free. Never theless in case of dirti-
ness it should be cleaned from time
to time with a damp cleaning cloth.
Never use sharp objects for clea-
ning.
Waste Disposal
The loudspeaker may be completely
recycled as electronic waste. Upon
disassembling, the plastic, metal
and electronic components must be
disposed of separately. In every
single case the national require-
ments and regulations for waste
disposal must be observed.
EMC-Directive
The device complies with the
requirements of the new EMC-
directive 2004/108/EC and the low
voltage directive 2006/95/EC.
The conformity with the above
directives is confirmed by the CE
sign.
