Overview

The W&T RS232 Universal Serial T-Switch 85643 with its
functional variety enables almost any imaginable uni- or bi-di-
rectional connection of three serial terminal devices with RS232
p o r t s . T h e T - s w i t c h c o m e s w i t h t h r e e s e r i a l p o r t s
(Port A, Port B and Port C), each of which can be configured as
desired independently of the others.
Switching between data paths A <> C and B <> C can be
done on a time basis or using control sequences from a
configurable port on the T-switch. Each of these data paths is
equipped with a 1 MByte buffer.

Supply voltage

The supply voltage for the T-switch is provided by an
integrated switched-mode power supply. This features a
variable input voltage range and allows the T-switch to be po-
wered using the AC adapter provided or alternately by any AC
or DC voltage between 12 and 24V. The supply connection is
r e v e r s e p o l a r i t y p r o t e c t e d a n d i s m a d e u s i n g t h e
included plug-in screw terminal.
When powering the T-switch externally you must

ensure that the supply voltage used is potential-free.
V o l t a g e s o u r c e s w i t h a g r o u n d r e f e r e n c e c a n
damage the T-switch and/or the connected serial devices.
We therefore recommend using the power supply
included in the scope of delivery.
