Insert two 1.5V HP 7 batteries with the correct polarity as
marked in the battery compartment.
A\Exhausted batteries should be removed from the remote
control unit as no responsibility is taken for damage
caused by leaking batteries.
Tuning to TV Stations
So that your recorder can record TV broadcasts, it must be
tuned to the local TV stations or to the special channels of
the regional cable TV systems.
There are two possible methods:
1. Entering channel numbers directly.
2. Using the station search system.
Information about the channel numbers/special channel
numbers can be obtained from your dealer, after-sales
serv-
ice or post office.
@ Switch on TV set.
@ Select the programme position for video playback on the
TV set.
— The tuning procedure can be checked on the TV screen.
®@ Point the remote control handset at the recorder.
Tuning to TV Stations by Entering Channel Num-
bers Directly
@ Press button # and then button C.
— Indication on recorder:
! Proc = Station position
06 = Channel number of a TV station
®@ Enter the required channel number as 2 figures using the
numbered buttons 1...0.
~ The channel number ist stored automatically.
Entering Special Channels
® The table below shows which channel numbers you have
to enter to receive special channels.

Tuning to TV Stations using Automatic Station
Search System
— The recorder searches the TV channels from channel 1
to channel 80 and then the special channels (indication 81
=$1,82=S2andso on) fromS 1 toS 20.
® Press button # and then button C.
@ Start the station search by pressing the C button once
more.
— The station search will now start to scan all of the TV chan-
nels and will stop when a station is found. If this station is
not the one required, repeatedly start the station search
until the desired station is found.
Altering Picture Quality
— The recorder will automatically tune to best possible pic-
ture quality. If you wish to alter the picture contours,
® press button < (the picture contours become softer) or
button — (the picture contours become harder).
— lf VPS* appears, the recorder is receiving this additional
signal.
lf VPS flickers or goes out, this indicates bad reception.
Correct this with the buttons — or — until VPS is contin-
uously illuminated and a good picture quality is obtained.
Calling Up the Next and Further Station Positions
@ Press button w or #.
Up to 49 station positions can be allocated to the channel
numbers/special channel numbers of the stations.
* Only for recorders with VPS.
