Demagnetizing
During long periods of use, the heads will become slightly
magnetized, As a result, the high frequency will decrease,
noise will develop, or in extreme cases the high regions will
drop out or introduce noise into your valued pre-recorded
tapes. To keep your recorder operating at optimum ef-
ficiency the heads should be demagnetized at least once for
every 50 hours of use, with a TEAC Model E-3 Head
Demagnetizer, using the procedures outlined below:
1. Turn off power to the tape deck.
2. Attach the plastic protectors on the pole tips of the
Demagnetizer.
3. Plug the Demagnetizer cord into an AC outlet.
4. Depress the Demagnetizer power button, bring the tip
close to the head and slowly move it up and down 4 or 5
times.
. Slowly draw it away from the head.
. After finishing the above procedure on each head, turn
off power to the Demagnetizer ONLY after it has been
drawn at least 12 inches away from the heads.
', The same demagnetizing procedure is followed on each
head, capstan shaft, and the guide posts.

-ubrication
nly two places on the your deck require lubrication under
'ormal operating conditions. These are the capstan shaft
earing and the pinch roller shaft. We recommend that
hese two places be oiled at every 1,000 hours of operation
r once a year if deck is infrequently used.
ubricating Procedure
. Lay deck on its back (rear surface).
. Unscrew cap on pinch roller by turning it counter-
clockwise with your fingers. (Don't lose the washer).
. Pull off pinch roller and apply light coating of oil
such as TEAC TZ-255 on pinch roller shaft.
. With pinch rotler removed, unscrew outer (bevelled)
cover over base of capstan shaft.
. Carefully remove the rubber washer from capstan shaft.
. Apply a drop or two of oil at base of the capstan shaft.
Wait about 10 minutes to allow oil to penetrate inside.
At this time apply power and move the shut-off arm
toward center of deck to rotate capstan shaft.
. Replace pinch roller and pinch roller cap. Then clean
pinch roller.

Entmagnetisierung
werden:
1. Netzspannung abschalten.
3. Anschlu&kabel des Entmagnetisierers mit der Netz-
steckdose verbinden.
5. Dann den Entmagnetisierer langsam vom Tonkopt
entfernen,
6. Ist jeder Tonkopf auf diese Weise entmagnetisiert,
schalten Sie die Betriebsspannung des Entmagnetisierers
aus, jedoch ERST in einem Abstand von wenigstens
30cm von den Tonképfen.
7. Auf die gleiche Weise werden Tonwellenschaft und
Bandfiihrungsrolien entmagnetisiert.
Schmierung
Unter normalen Betriebsbedingungen brauchen nur zwei
Stellen geschmiert zu werden, das Tonwellenlager und der
Schaft der Andruckrolle. Es empfiehit sich, diese beiden
Stellen alle 1000 Betriebsstunden oder einmal im Jahr zu
schmieren, wenn das Tonbandgerat wenig beniitzt wird.
Verfahren
1. Das Gerat hochstellen (auf die Riickseite).
2. Kappe der Andruckrolle durch Drehen im Gegenuhr-
zeigersinn von Hand abschrauben. (Die Unterlegscheibe
nicht verlieren).
3. Andruckrolle abnehmen und mit einem Ol, z.B. TEAC
TZ-255, den Schaft so schmieren, da& er von einem
diinnen Olfilm bedeckt ist.
4. Wahrend die Andruckrolle abmontiert bleibt, schrauben
Sie die du&ere (abgeschragte) Abdeckung iber dem Lager
des Tonwellenschafts ab.
5. Entfernen Sie vorsichtig die Gummi-Unterlegscheibe
von der Tonwelle.
6. Das Tonwellenlager mit einem oder zwei Tropfen Ol
schmieren. Das Of etwa 10 Minuten eindringen lassen.
Dann die Netzspannung einschalten und den Abschalt-
hebel nach innen gegen das Gerat fiihren, um den Ton-
weilenschaft in Drehung zu versetzen.
7. Tonweilenschaft saubern, Gummi-Unterlegscheibe wieder
anbringen und die abgeschragte Abdeckung wieder
aufsetzen.
8. Andruckrolle und Kappe wieder einsetzen. Dann die
Andruckrolle séubern.
