ADJUSTMENTS, MAINTENANCE AND CARE
Before any maintenance or cleaning:
- Switch the machine off.
- Wait for the blade to come to a complete stop.
- Unplug the power cable.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Never use solvents to clean the plastic parts. Most plastics are likely to be damaged by commercial solvents. Use a clean cloth to dust the
machine and wipe it clean.
• After maintenance or cleaning, check that all safety devices work properly.
• Only replace damaged parts, particularly safety devices, with original replacement parts, as parts not tested and approved by the manu-
facturer may cause unforeseen damage.
• Maintenance and repair work other than as described in this chapter must only be carried out by qualified specialists.
A. CHANGING THE BLADE
There is a risk of injury even if the saw blade is not running. Wear gloves when changing the saw blade. Only use suitable blades.
Unscrew the 4 nuts (E) Fig. 6 that hold the fence rail in place and remove the fence rail (F).
• Open the two saw doors (A and K) Fig. 1.
• Lower the upper blade guide (E) Fig. 1 fully.
• Turn the blade adjustment wheel (B) Fig. 1 anticlockwise to slacken the blade.
• Take off the blade and pass it through: the slot in the saw table, the blade guard on the upper blade guide, the side blade cover and the
blade guides.
• Fit a new blade. Check the position: the teeth must point towards the front of the saw (towards the door).
• Centre the blade on the rubber tyres.
• Turn the blade adjustment wheel (B) Fig. 1 clockwise to tighten the blade.
• Close the 2 housing doors (A and K) Fig. 1.
• Then:
- readjust the saw blade if required
- adjust the blade guides
- let the saw test run for at least one minute
- switch off the machine, unplug the power cable and check the settings once again.
B. ADJUSTING THE UPPER BLADE GUIDE
The upper blade guide includes the following:
- a support bearing (which supports the blade from the rear),
- two small guide bearings (which support the blade laterally).
These bearings must be changed with every blade change and every blade readjustment.
Note: Regularly check the guide bearings for wear and replace both of them at the same time if needed.
1. If necessary, align and tighten the band saw blade.
2. Unscrew the screw (A) Fig. 17 to loosen the rear support bearing (B) to be able to adjust it easily.
3. After adjusting the rear support bearing, re-tighten the screw (A) of the upper blade guide.
4. Unscrew the screws (F) Fig. 18.
5. Position the support (G) so that the guide bearings (H) are approximately 1 mm behind the teeth base.
6. Tighten the screws fully (F).
7. Unscrew the screws (I) Fig.11.
8. Adjust the support rods (J) Fig. 11 which hold the guide bearings (H) Fig. 18 against each other (on the blade) so that they just touch the
blade.
9. Turn the blade upper wheel clockwise several times by hand so that the guide bearings (H) are in the correct position – the two guide
bearings must just touch the blade.
10. Tighten the screws (I) Fig. 11 fully while holding the support rods (J).
11. Position the rear support bearing (B) Fig. 17 so that it just touches the saw blade.
12. Tighten the locking screw (A) Fig. 17 fully.
C. ADJUSTING THE LOWER BLADE GUIDE
The lower blade guide includes the following:
- a support bearing which supports the blade from the rear (A) Fig. 19,
- 2 guide bearings which support the blade laterally (E) Fig. 12.
