1 Introduction
The PC-CARD / ExpressCard/34 from the company Allied Vision Technologies is an adapter for
connecting QuantumX modules to a notebook via FireWire 1394b.
2 Requirements
The adapter is supported by the operating systems Windows ME, 2000, 2003, XP (min. Service
Pack 2), Vista and Windows 7.
The HBM FireWire driver can be found on the QuantumX System CD or on the Internet
(www.hbm.com/downloads under "Data acquisition systems"). Information on installing the
driver can be found in the corresponding documentation.
3 Installation
The adapter can be connected during operation to the notebook. It needs an appropriate free
slot in order to operate the interface.
1. Plug the 9-pin FireWire cable KAB270−3 into one of the adapter sockets and tighten the
knurled screws of the plug.
2. Install the FireWire driver from the QuantumX System CD and replace the driver provided by
Microsoft.
3. Plug the adapter (with colored sticker facing upwards) into the free slot of your notebook.
4. The Hardware Assistant window will appear. Register the QuantumX module in the operating
system by referring to the previously installed driver (hbm1394.inf).
5. Start the QuantumX Assistant and start a module search (function key F4).
