CAUTION
Risk of burns from heating components.
Avoiding burns
When working on heating components, the components must be switched off and the
component temperature must be checked before any activity proceeds.
In line with workplace protection regulations, the required personal protective
equipment (gloves) must be provided by the operator and worn.
The valve heater can be inserted laterally into the C-slots of the ABNOX metering
valves. As soon as the valve heater is correctly positioned, it is firmly screwed to the
valve using the two marked cylinder head screws M2.5 (Pos. 1).
INSTRUCTION
For better heat transfer we recommend mounting the heater with silicon
free thermal paste (e.g., Electrolube HTCP20S).
The connection plug M8x1 (Pos. 2) of the valve heater points in the direction of the
adjusting screw of the metering valve (Figure A).
The internal wiring of the valve heater and the integration of the temperature switch /
temperature limiter is shown in Figure F.
Provided the valve heating has been correctly connected via a sensor cable to a
higher-level temperature controller, the operating status is indicated by an integrated
LED (Pos. 4). In this case, the following applies:
• LED off: No power is transmitted to the valve heating from the higher-level
temperature controller.
• LED on: Power is transmitted to the valve heating from the higher-level
temperature controller.
Important
A built-in temperature switch prevents any overheating of the valve
heating! The valve heater cuts off automatically at a temperature of 95°C
± 5°C to prevent the valve heaters themselves sustaining any damage.
The temperature switch only allows the valve heating to be reactivated
after it has been disconnected from the mains voltage and allowed to
cool for a while.
First Operation
• Once the valve heater has been installed and correctly connected to the higher-
level temperature controller with a sensor cable, the dosing valve with heater can
be put into operation.
• The required valve heating temperature should be increased gradually, starting
with a temperature of approx. 15 °C.
• Carry out initial dosing tests. If the medium is too solid or thin, reduce the valve
heating temperature. If the medium is insufficiently solid or too viscous, increase
