Intended use
This is a modern device for measuring the moisture of wood with a
thickness of 20mm. It is equipped with an LCD with backlight, has a low
current consumption and can be read off directly. In the protective sheath
the adjustment device can be found, which is used to determine whether
or not the device is in good condition. It has seven measuring ranges.
Only one type of wood can be measured in a certain measuring range. The
device is compact, and easy to carry and use.

1. Selection of the desired range
Press and hold the button for about 5 seconds. The device now shows
the range selection mode; the set range flashes in the display. Press the
button in order to see the desired range in the display.
Release the button if the desired range flashes in the display. The device
leaves the range selection mode about 5 seconds later.
ATTENTION: After replacing the battery the device sets itself to
range 5.
2. Preparation
Set the measuring device to range 5 at first and then remove the
protective sheath. Touch the two metal contacts on the protective sheath
(Fig. 2) with the two feeler pins and press the button. The display shows
a value which is named "adjustment value" below. If the adjustment
value is 18% ± 1%, the measuring device is in normal condition. If
not, calculate the difference between the adjustment value and 18%
and subtract this difference from the measuring results (see formula).
Alternatively you can adjust the potentiometer in the measuring device
which can only be done by a technician.
Note:
Do not use the formula if the adjustment value is 18% ± 1%. The shown
value then matches the measured value.
The formula is:
Humidity = Reading – (adjustment value -18%).
3. Measuring of the moisture
a) Look up the correction value for the type of wood in the table and
determine which range matches the type of wood. Then adjust the
measuring device to this range.
b) Insert both feeler pins into the wood to be measured. The feeler pins
should enter the wood at least 4 to 5 mm in order to obtain a precise
measuring value. Read off the value from the display.
Note:
If the adjustment value is over 19% or under 17% use the formula for
the value to be measured. If the measured value is below 5%, the display
shows "00 %". If the value exceeds 42% the display shows "OL".
ATTENTION!
1. In the correction table you can look up the desired measuring range for
the type of wood.
2. For the type of wood not mentioned in the table, we recommend a
measuring range of 5 to measure the moisture. Consider the measuring
error in this result.
3. In low light conditions press the button to turn on the backlight.
4. After finishing the measuring refit the protective sheath. The measuring
device turns off automatically to save energy.
5. If the battery symbol appears in the display, replace the battery
immediately. To replace the battery open the lid, remove the old one,
insert a new battery and refit the lid of the battery compartment.
6. The shown value of moisture is an average of both measurements. In
order to obtain a more accurate value you can repeat the measuring
process at different points of the wood.
7. The feeler pins are sharp-edged. Keep the device away from children.
