At the point of the vessel wall where the temperature is to be measured, there must be a plane seat
surface for the sensor element.
Screw the welding collar off the connection housing with the sensor element before welding it to the
wall.
Position the welding collar with the two threaded holes in such a way that the cable gland on the housing
will have the appropriate position later On.
The welding collar must be welded to the wall completely. Only then protection class IP 66 can be
ensured.
Two screws will be visible when the housing cap is screwed off (see Fig. 3-1). These screws have to be loosened
to detach the welding collar from the housing with the Sensor element.
The helical spring at the Sensor element will press the element firmly to the wall after mounting. Adding a heat-
conductive paste will reduce the half-value time from approximately 20 seconds to approximately 10 seconds.

Electrical connection

A 2-pole screw terminal is provided in the housing for connecting the electrical line. A M16 x 1.5 cable gland
serves for entering the cable.
Observe the applicable reg ulations and safety standards pertaining to the installation and operation of electrical
Systems when making the electrical installation.
Do not lay the signal line for measured value transmission close to power lines. Power lines produce interference
in their near vicinity which impairs the measured values on the signal line.

Temperature sensor without built-in transmitter

The Pt 100 measuring element is connected with the screw terminal through 2 wires (see connection diagram
Fig. 3-2). No special polarity has to be observed when connecting the line for the transmission of the measured
values. From the screw terminal on the measured values can be transmitted via a 2-wire, a 3- wire or a 4-wire
cable. Depending on the number of wires used for this purpose, the wires have to be combined accordingly when
they are connected to the screw terminal.
