The special versions for laboratory use are provided with output
sockets which are connected to the secondary winding of the
trans-
f
ormer.
Attention
Since the transformer has been designed as an auto-transformer,
none of the connections to the winding should be earthed. If neces-
sary, use an isolating transformer.
Ganged models etc.
•
For applications requiring series, parallel and 3-phase connection,
also motor driven units, reference should be made to the appro-
priate catalogue sheets.
Maintenance
A. Warning
First disconnect the transformer from the mains supply voltage.
B. Cleaning the brush track
if cleaning of the track becomes necessary,
it should be done only
by means of a brush or soft cloth moistened with a de~~greasing
liquid, as alcohol.
NEVER USE ABRASIVES.
C. Carbon brush
Normally brushes will last indefinitely. Abnormal brush wear can
be due to continued overload or a dirty contact surface. The size
to which the carbon brush can wear down is limited by a stop on
the brush holder so that contact between the holder and the
brush track is prevented.
D. Replacement of the carbon brush
- Take off the knob (see under II-E).
- Remove the housing (loosen 3 fixing screws).
- Replace the brush according to the Figs. 7 or 8.
