Tweeter Level Attenuation
A jumper allows for three tweeter attenuation levels! The jumper is located on the printed
circuit board of the crossover unit. The three selectable attenuations are marked with 0dB/-
3dB/-6dB. The tweeter attenuation jumper should be used, to fine tune the treble balance
of your component system, since the intensity of the high frequency reproduction depends
mainly on the tweeter mounting location.
It is highly recommended to listen to all three attenuation settings, to obtain the most
pleasing treble balance in your car.
Mid/Woofer Bypass Switch
The second switch on the x-over PC-board allows to bypass the lowpass filter of the mid/
woofer, to extend the frequency response up to 5 kHz to cope with mounting locations that
are less than ideal, i.e. when the mid/woofers are installed into OEM factory openings,
where the factory mounted grille obstructs the radiation of higher frequencies. For all installs
where the mid/woofers are mounted using the supplied grilles, the slide swich shall be set to
its „-MID" setting. With jumper set to „+MID" the component set will have a lower impedance
and draws more current. Thus, an amplifier should be driving the component set because
normal headunits and moniceivers can react with elevated distortions to lower impedances.
Tweeter Polarity Check
To be sure that mid/woofer and tweeter play in phase acoustically, it is advisable to connect
both main tweeter wires in reverse and „normal" manner, to the crossover unit and check
the sonic result by a short listening test. Depending on the distance of mid/woofer to tweeter
the overall sound quality and the soundstage might benefit from reversed polarity connec-
tion of both tweeter units.
