9. Normal operation

9.1. Operating individual devices

After you have finished programming your remote
control for your audio/video devices, you can use it
to perform the most common functions, just like the
original remote control that came with that particular
device.
Point your remote control at the relevant device and
press the appropriate source key. The source key iden-
tifier is displayed with the programmed code. (You
don't need to press the source key for universal func-
tions; see "Universal functions" "Punch Through" on
page 26).
You can now activate the functions by pressing the
corresponding button on your universal remote con-
trol. The symbol for infrared transmission appears each
time you press a button.
The display backlight comes on for 10 to 60 seconds
every time a button is pressed.
PLEASE NOTE:
In certain circumstances not every func-
tion of your original remote control may
be directly available on the universal re-
mote control.
With new devices, in particular, some func-
tions may be assigned to different buttons
or may not be available at all.
