WHAT TO DO IF?

There are many kinds of trouble caused by mishandling the amplifier. When a problem occurs, check the table
below which describes possible problems occurring in your amplifier.
If the amplifier is not operating correctly
and you are unable to restore normal operation by following the detailed procedure in the table below, do not re-
move the cover of the unit or attempt any further adjustments.
Unplug the unit and contact your dealer or the
nearest HITACHI service station.

| Function indicator does not come on and the

1. The polarities of the speaker connections are not aligned properly:
1. Faulty connection of the turntable output cables.
2 The pin jack connection and the ground wire are loose.
3. There is a line cable near the turntable output cables. °
1. The sound from the speakers is making the turntable vibrate. Move either
the speakers or tumtable. Do not increase the bass sound level excessive-
ly.
4. The stylus is improperly mounted.
5. The tracking force is not correct.

6. The TREBLE sound is too high.
1. Set up a good high outdoor antenna and ground it correctly.
Hum noise is heard, only when tuning AM broad-
casts.
| Continuous or intermittent noise.
| The sound of an FM program contains noise like zzz.
More noise is included in FM stereo reception than
FM mono.
1. Noise may become mixed in, when a turntable or a tapé deck is operat-
ing.
2. Try changing the position of the loop antenna.
1. Ignition noise from automobile engines. Set up an outdoor FM antenna
instead of using the FM dipole antenna.
1. The signal input of the antenna terminals is too weak to receive FM stereo
broadcasts. Set up an outdoor FM antenna instead of using the FM tle
antenna,

Wenn
ein Parallel-Kunstoffkabel
oder nur ein schwach
abgeschirmtes
kabel ver-
wendet wird, dann kdnnten induktive Brummgerau-
sche erzéugt werden und die Hochfrequénzeigen-
schaften werden erheblich beeintrachtigt.
