Cleaning:
After every use, or maximum every 12
weeks, clean the cultivation insert set
by rinsing all the parts under the tap
with a mild detergent, or place into the
dishwasher. All parts except the water
gauge are dishwasher safe. Cleaning
removes any fertilizer residue. Rinse
thoroughly after cleaning.
Some pumice stones can be reused
between 3-6 times. To prepare them for
reuse, the organic material like leaves and
roots must be removed from the pumice
stones.
Before getting started, you will need:
• Bucket
• Sieve
• Boiling water
• Cultivation insert set pots and their
contents
• Original pumice stone packaging to store
clean pumice stones
Method:
1. Empty the pots from the cultivation
insert set into a bucket.
2. Lift the root core including the starter
plug and shake off any excess pumice
stones.
3. Discard the roots and starter plug. Sort
as regular household waste.
4. Carefully pour boiling water into the
bucket over the pumice stones. This kills
bacteria and removes any remaining
roots from the pumice. Leave for 5
minutes.
5. Use an old sieve to remove organic
material that floats up to the surface.
6. Leave the water to cool. Once the water
is cool enough to handle safely, pour the
contents of the bucket through the sieve.
The clean pumice stones can then be
stored in the original packaging, ready
for use.
