Prolong the life of your Shredder
As with all types of machinery, document shredders will not operate effi ciently unless properly
maintained. The most eff ective way to care for a shredder is to oil it regularly.
Oiling is an essential part of shredder maintenance. It helps to maintain maximum performance and is
necessary in order to maintain warranty coverage.
Shredding produces a surprising amount of paper dust which builds up inside the cutting assembly.
Without frequent oiling, the accumulated detritus compacts, putting strain on the cutters, motor,
gears and bearings. Failing to oil a shredder will inevitably reduce its lifetime.
Shredders should be oiled on a regular basis and before any period of intensive
shredding.
Lubrication should always be done when the shredder is cold. Never add oil to
a hot shredder. Never use oil from an aerosol as the propellant may be fl amable.
Always use oil designed for use in shredders.
