Installation instructions
Modular equipment series
for
gesis RAN
A. Important information - please read carefully
This memorandum describes the installation of extension modules 8-fold binary input
from the equipment series
.
gesis RM B
• Due to the given class of protection, type of enclosure and its holding fixture,
this device must be installed in a
gesis RAN
• All electrical installation work and connections are only to be made by a quali-
fied and trained electrician!
• The necessary regulations (for example EN 50090-2-2) are only fulfilled if the
equipment has been effectively and specifically processed as a final product.
The instructions, valid standards, regulations and safety stipulations and the
ESD directives are to be observed when processing further.
• To be also observed are the valid safety and accident prevention regulations!
• The extension module can only be used with a basic module from the equip-
ment series
.
gesis RM B
• The function of the extension module is substantially influenced by the soft-
ware settings given in the basic module.
• With voltage loopthroughs, the 16 A maximum current must not be exceeded.
B. Function description
The binary input can cover eight potential-free contacts. The call-up voltage for this
purpose is made available from the binary input. Further input processing and bus com-
munication is through the basic module. Connection to the basic module is by means of
a ribbon cable included in the extent of delivery.

E. Module exchangement
The ribbon cable must not be under voltage when plugging or unplugging.
1. Make sure that the module is not under voltage.
2. Remove the ribbon cable from the front of the unit.
3. Slacken off the connections on the terminal strip.
4. Loosen the knurled screws in the gesis RAN housing (see figure below)
