Solar Charge Regulator
Item no. 856345
Intended use
This solar charge regulator is suitable for solar modules with an input voltage of max. 22 V and reliably
protects the battery against overload and deep discharge. The integrated LED display informs you about
the charge state.
Unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the device are inadmissible because of safety and approval
reasons (CE). Any usage other than described above is not permitted and can damage the product and
lead to associated risks such as short-circuit, fire, electric shock, etc. Please read the operating instructions
thoroughly and keep them for further reference.

Safety instructions
We do not assume liability for resulting damages to property or personal injury if the
product has been abused in any way or damaged by improper use or failure to observe
these operating instructions. The warranty/ guarantee will then expire!
The icon with exclamation mark indicates important information in the operating
instructions. Carefully read the whole operating instructions before operating the device,
otherwise there is risk of danger.
a) Persons / Product
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of reach of children!
• The device is only to be used in a dry room and shall not be exposed to dampness or wetness;
there is danger of death from electric shock!
• Never pour out liquids above electrical appliances and never leave objects filled with liquids
(e.g. vases) on them or in their vicinity. There is a high risk of fire or life-threatening electric
shock.
• In schools, training facilities, hobby or self-service workshops, handling of electrical devices
must be monitored by trained personnel.
• Always lay the cables so that nobody can trip over or become entangled in them. Risk of injury.
• When used in conjunction with other devices, observe the operating instructions and safety
notices of connected devices.
• The product must not be subjected to heavy mechanical stress or intense vibration.
• Operation under adverse ambient conditions must be avoided under all circumstances!
Adverse conditions are: ambient temperatures above 42 °C, inflammable gases, solvents,
vapours, dust, humidity above 80% rel. as well as dampness.
• The product may only be operated in a closed, dry room.
• If the hazard-free operation of the device cannot be guaranteed, the device must be put out
of operation and secured against inadvertent operation. Hazard-free operation is no longer to
be assumed if the device shows visible damage, such as transport damage or after storage
in adverse conditions.
• When the overcharge protection fails, dangerous electrolytic gas can develop in the area
around the battery. Therefore, make sure that the battery is installed in a well-ventilated place.
• Only photovoltaic cells must be used as a power source.
• Carefully observe the connection sequence! Disconnection is to be done in reverse order (see
"Connection").
• To avoid short-circuits between solar charge controller and battery, a safety fuse has to be
installed additionally at the positive terminal.
b) Miscellaneous
• Servicing, adjustment or repair works must only be carried out by a specialist/ specialist
workshop.
• If any questions arise that are not answered in this operating instruction, contact our Technical
Advisory Service or other experts.

Charging
• Ensure correct polarity when connecting the components (see stickers on the
connections).
• The solar charge controller should be mounted close to the battery and be protected
from weather effects. Please make sure that the battery is only stored in a well-
ventilated room.
• To ensure proper functioning of the controller, make sure the chimney effect is in
place, i.e. the connections have to be installed in a downward position.
• To utilize the protective function of the solar charge controller, the controller has to
be connected with the solar generator, the lead-acid battery and the consumer load.
• All system components, i.e. solar collector, lead-acid battery, load consumer and solar
controller have to be aligned with regards to their voltages. Please check this before
installation! If in doubt ask your specialist dealer!
• Please make sure to follow the sequence below when connecting:
Connection
1. First connect the solar charge controller's BATTERY connection with a rechargeable 12 V battery. For
this, use a connection cable appropriate for the battery (not included).
2. Then, connect the solar charge controller's SOLAR CELL connection with the solar collector.
3. Finally, connect the solar charge controller's LOAD connection to a consumer load.
• The solar charge controller's yellow charge LED lights up once the battery receives charging
from the solar collector.
• With the three mounting holes, you can mount the solar charge controller at an appropriate
position.
Overload protection
• When an overcharge is imminent, the green overcharge LED lights up.
• In such a case, the solar charge controller interrupts the power supply from the solar collector to the
battery.
Deep discharge protection
• When a deep discharge is imminent, the red deep discharge LED lights up.
• In such a case, the solar charge controller interrupts the current supply to maintain the battery's capability.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the household waste!
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant statutory regulations.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
