Das vorzugsweise für Schülerversuche und Praktika bestimmte
Zählgerät S, das mit Kleinspannung aus einem Steckernetzge-
rät versorgt wird, bietet 3 Meßfunktionen:
• Zählung von Impulsen aus einem Zählrohr in vorgegebenen
Meßzeiten von 100 s, 60 s, 10 s oder mit manuellem Stopp
über eine frei wählbare Zeit (Zählrohrfassung und Hochspan-
nungsversorgung im Gerät integriert)
• Zählung von elektrischen Impulsen aus anderen Signalquel-
len (z.B. Lichtschranke, Mikrofon, Funktionsgenerator) bei ei-
ner Meßzeit von 1 s (Frequenzmessung) oder über eine frei
wählbare Meßzeit
• Zeitmessung (Auflösung 1 s oder 1 ms) mit Start/Stopp per
Taste oder durch Öffnen bzw. Schließen des Signaleingangs
(z.B. durch Verdunkeln bzw. Beleuchten einer Lichtschranke).
Das Gerät ist mit einer 5-stelligen Digitalanzeige und einem
akustischen Impulsindikator ausgerüstet. Es ermöglicht auto-
matische Meßwiederholung; dabei wird jeder Meßwert zum Ab-
lesen und Protokollieren bis zum Eintreffen des nächsten
Meßwertes in der Digitalanzeige gespeichert. Für eine compu-
terunterstützte Auswertung der Impulszählung steht ein Im-
pulsausgang zum Anschluß eines Interfaces (z.B. aus
CASSYp a c k - E , 524 007, an einem MS-DOS-Rechner) zur
Verfügung.

Ausgang berücksichtigen!
• Die empfindliche Elektronik des Gerätes kann durch Entla-
dung statischer Elektrizität (ESD- electrostatic discharge)
beeinträchtigt werden.
Maßnahmen:
- Experimentierumgebung so wählen, daß keine elektrosta-
tische Aufladung von Experimentator und Geräten auftre-
ten kann, oder
- z.B. über einen geerdeten Metallstab (Anschlußstab Kat.
Nr. 532 16) für Entladung sorgen.

Designed primarily for student experiments and practical exer-
cises and supplied with extra-low voltage from a plug-in power
supply unit, the counter S provides three measurement functions:
• The counting of counter tube pulses in predetermined measure-
ment times (gate times) of 100 s, 60 s, 10 s or via a user-de-
finable measurement time with manual stop
(counter tube socket and high voltage power supply integra-
ted into the device).
• Counting of electrical pulses from other signal sources (e.g.
light barrier, microphone, function generator) for a measure-
ment time of 1 s (frequency measurement) or a user-definable
time.
• Time measurement (resolution 1 s or 1 ms) with start/stop via
keystroke or by opening or closing the signal input (e.g. ob-
scuration or illuminating a light barrier).
The device is equipped with a 5-digit LED display and an acoustic
pulse indicator. It permits automatic measurement repetitions,
in which each measured value is stored for readout and logging
until the subsequent measured value arrives in the digital dis-
play. In order to allow for computer-based evaluation of the pulse
counting there is a pulse output available for connection of an
interface device (e.g. from CASSYpack-E, 524 007, for connection
to an MS-DOS computer).

Measures:
- choose the experiment area so that no electrostatic char-
ges can build up either the experimenter or the devices,
or
- ensure that such charges are discharged safely, e.g. via
a grounded metal rod (connection rod, Cat. No. 532 16).
