4.3 Commissioning
As supplied the electrically actuated changeover valve is
closed and the backflow preventer is in the shut-off position.
Commissioning should be in the following sequence:
1.
Slowly open shut-off valve
2.
Check flanged and pipework joints for seal
3.
Slowly open shut-off valve . Fill and vent the
system
4.
After filling or when there's no more water drawn from
the system the differential pressure transmitter
switches over the electrically actuated changeover
valve
so that the backflow preventer turns back to
⑳
shut-off position
Backflow preventers of this type are normally in the shut-off
position. When the electrically actuated changeover valve
receives an electrical signal, the backflow preventer is
hydraulically changed over to the flow position.
When the draw off stops, the signal operates the electronic
actuator in the reverse direction.
The operating position is indicated on the spring bonnet .
•
Shut-off position: Green spring bonnet is visible.
The backflow preventer has shut-off
•
Flow position: Green spring bonnet is not visible

Maintenance
In order to comply with EN 806-5, water fixtures must
be inspected and serviced on an annual basis.
As all maintenance work must be carried out by an
installation company, it is recommended that a
servicing contract should be taken out.
In accordance with EN 806-5, the following measures must
be taken:
5.1 Inspection
5.1.1 Testing discharge valve
•
Open an outlet which is downstream of the backflow
preventer
•
Visually check that the backflow preventer goes to the
flow position - Green spring bonnet is not visible
•
If the backflow preventer does not go to the shut-off
position, check hydraulically actuated changeover
valve, the valve insert, seal disc and seals and replace
them if necessary
5.1.2 Checking for seal
•
Visually check that no water is emitted when backflow
preventer is in the flow position (Green spring bonnet
is not visible)
•
If water comes out, check the valve insert, seal disc
and seals and replace them if necessary

5.1.3 Checking the safety function
•
Open an outlet which is downstream of the backflow
preventer
The backflow preventer must then go to the flow
position at the set pressure indicated on the rating
plate.
•
The set pressure must be checked by connecting a
pressure measuring device between the outlet and
the backflow preventer
•
If the backflow preventer does not go to the flow
position at the given operating pressure, check
electrically actuated changeover valve, the valve
insert, seal disc and seals and replace them if
necessary
These inspections and tests should be carried out at
least once a year by the user or by a specialist.
Depending on operating conditions, it may be
necessary to carry out these tests and inspections
more frequently.
5.2 Maintenance
5.2.1 Replace valve insert
1.
Close valves and
2.
Relieve pressure from valve (for example by opening
drain valve )
3.
Loosen spring bonnet by turning anticlockwise and
remove it
4.
Loosen flange fitting
5.
Take out complete valve insert and seal
valve insert and seal for good condition and if
necessary clean or replace
6.
Insert seal
plus valve insert and tighten flange
⑪
fitting
7.
Replace spring bonnet and tighten by turning
clockwise
8.
Slowly open shut-off valve
9.
Slowly open shut-off valve and fill and vent the
system
5.2.2 Replace seal disc (14) and lip seal
ring (19)
1.
Close shut-off valves and
2.
Relieve pressure from valve (for example by opening
drain valve )
3.
Completely remove backflow preventer from pipework
4.
Loosen flange fitting
housing

CAUTION!
There is a risk of injury, because inner components
can spring out.
