Switch Mode Power Supply Unit
GB
Please read these operating instructions carefully prior to
operating the unit and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
This power supply unit is used for direct current supply of
small units with an operating voltage between 15 V and 24 V
(e. g. notebooks) and a current consumption of 4 A max.
(3.8 A at 24 V). At the same time the power supply unit is able
to supply an operating voltage of 5 V for two units with a USB
port. The unit is protected against short circuit, overload and
overheating. The special feature of the power supply unit is its
extra low current consumption (< 0.5 W) when the unit con-
nected has been switched off.
2 Safety Notes
This unit corresponds to all required directives of the EU and
is therefore marked with
WARNING
The unit uses dangerous mains voltage. Leave
servicing to skilled personnel only. Inexpert
handling may result in electric shock.
G
The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it against
dripping water and splash water, high air humidity and heat
(admissible ambient temperature range 0 – 40 °C).
G
Do not place any vessel filled with liquid on the unit, e. g. a
drinking glass.
G
Do not operate the unit and immediately disconnect the
mains plug from the socket
1. if the unit or the mains cable is visibly damaged,
2. if a defect might have occurred after the unit was
dropped or suffered a similar accident,
3. if malfunctions occur.
In any case the unit must be repaired by skilled personnel.
G
Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains plug
from the socket, always seize the plug.
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, never use chemicals
or water.
G
No guarantee claims for the unit and no liability for any
resulting personal damage or material damage will be
accepted if the unit is used for other purposes than origi-
nally intended, if it is not correctly connected, if it is over-
loaded, or not repaired in an expert way.
If the unit is to be put out of operation definitively,
take it to a local recycling plant for a disposal which
is not harmful to the environment.

3 Operation

1) For power supply of up to two units with a USB port con-
nect the plug (5) of the USB adapter (7) to one of the two
inline jacks (4) and connect the units to the USB adapter.
2) For power supply of a unit with an operating voltage
between 15 V and 24 V:
a) Determine the operating voltage of the unit to be sup-
plied with power (
of the unit) and adjust the voltage by turning the switch
(2) with the key supplied (3).
CAUTION! At the unit to be supplied the positive pole
must be at the inside contact of the power supply jack
(marking
or similar symbol at the jack). If not, the
PSS-90NUSB must not be used. The unit to be con-
nected is not able to operate and will possibly be dam-
aged.
b) Select the matching adapter from the six adapters sup-
plied:

3.5
4.75

6.5
c) Connect the matching adapter (6) to one of the two
inline jacks (4) and to the power supply jack of the unit
to be connected.
4) Connect the power supply unit with the supplied mains
cable (1) to a socket (100 – 240 V~, 50 – 60 Hz). The red
operating indication lights up.
