Voltage-Controlled 2-Channel Preamplifier
These instructions are intended for users with basic elec-
tronic knowledge. Please read the instructions carefully
prior to operation and keep them for later reference.
1 Applications
The preamplifier UVCA-22 is used for adjusting the volume
of audio signals with line level via remote control, e. g. to
adjust the volume of a stereo amplifier system from any
location via a 10 kΩ potentiometer. The volume can also be
adjusted by direct voltage (0 V ... 10 V) or by the duty cycle
of a square-wave signal (15 Vpp max.).
2 Important Notes
The amplifier corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
The amplifier is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water, splash water and high air humid-
ity. The admissible ambient temperature range is 0 – 40 °C.
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth; never use water
or chemicals.
No guarantee claims for the amplifier and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage will
be accepted if the amplifier is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly connected,
if it is overloaded, or if it is not repaired in an expert way.
If the amplifier is to be put out of operation de-
finitively, take it to a local recycling plant for a
disposal which is not harmful to the environment.
3 Connection
1) To adjust the volume of an audio signal, feed this audio
signal to the RCA jacks IN L and IN R.
2) Connect the unit that follows (e. g. power amplifier) to
the RCA output jacks OUT L and OUT R.
3) To adjust the volume, use one the three options below.
Connection is made to the terminal strip VCA CONTROL.

For convenient handling when connecting, this terminal
strip can be removed from its position.
1. Connect a 10 kΩ potentiometer according to fig. 1.
2. Feed an adjustable direct voltage to the connections
and DC VOL INPUT, refer to fig. 2.
3. Feed a square-wave signal with variable duty cycle to
the connections
shows the LED controller CU-40R for LED chains; it can
be operated via remote control.
4) For power supply, a direct voltage of 5 – 15 V is required
(100 mA max.). Feed this voltage to the jack „9-15V⎓".
For connection, a DC power connector with the dimen-
sions 5.5/2.1 mm is required. Apply the positive pole to
the centre contact.
4 Adjusting the Maximum Volume
The trimmer potentiometer VOL MAX next to the terminal
strip can be used to adjust the maximum volume.
