Safety Instructions
Read the operating instructions
carefully and especially observe
the safety information. If you do
not follow the safety instructions
and information on proper han-
dling in this manual, we assume
no liability for any resulting per-
sonal injury or damage to prop-
erty. Such cases will invalidate
the warranty/guarantee.
• The product is not a toy. Keep it out of the
reach of children and pets.
• Do not leave packaging material lying
around carelessly. This may become dan-
gerous playing material for children.
• Protect the product from extreme tempera-
tures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high hu-
midity, moisture, flammable gases, steam
and solvents.
• Do not place the product under any me-
chanical stress.
• If it is no longer possible to operate the
product safely, take it out of operation and
protect it from any accidental use. Safe
operation can no longer be guaranteed if
the product:
- is visibly damaged,
- is no longer working properly,
- has been stored for extended periods in
poor ambient conditions or
- has been subjected to any serious trans-
port-related stresses.
• Please handle the product carefully. Jolts,
impacts or a fall even from a low height can
damage the product.
• Consult an expert when in doubt about
the operation, safety or connection of the
product.
• Maintenance, modifications and repairs
must only be completed by a technician or
an authorised repair centre.
• If you have questions which remain un-
answered by these operating instructions,
contact our technical support service or
other technical personnel.
• The product is not a toy. Keep devices that
operate on the mains voltage out of the
reach of children. Therefore, be especially
careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach
of children.
• The product is only intended for use in dry,
indoor locations. No part of the product
should become damp or wet; never handle
it if your hands are wet!
• Wall plug transformers have the potential
to cause a fatal electric shock!
• The design of the wall plug transformer
complies with Protection Class II. Use
only a standard mains socket as the power
source for the wall plug transformer.
• Only use the external power transformer
supplied to power the audio converter.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from
the mains socket by pulling on the cable.
Hold it on the sides of the casing and pull it
out of the mains socket.
• If the wall plug transformer is damaged,
do not touch it; there is danger to life from
electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the
socket to which the wall plug transformer is
connected (switch off at the corresponding
circuit breaker or, for example remove the
safety fuse or switch off at the correspond-
ing RCD protective switch, so the socket is
fully disconnected).
You can then unplug the wall plug trans-
former from the mains socket. Dispose
of the faulty wall plug transformer in an
environment-friendly way, do not use it any
more. Replace it by a wall plug transformer
of the same design.
Getting started, connection
• Connect the two cinch buses, marked "Output", with the analogue audio input of e.g. an
ampli- fier.
Red cinch = right stereo signal
White cinch = left stereo signal
• For digital audio input, an optical "Toslink" bus and a cinch bus (marked "Coaxial") are
pro- vided.
Only use one if those 2 buses ("Toslink" or "Coaxial"). Never connect cables to both
connectors at the same time.
• Connect the low voltage plug from the enclosed wall plug transformer to the corresponding
socket on the audio converter.
• Connect the wall plug transformer to a mains socket. The red "Power" LED on the audio
converter illuminates and indicates that the converter is ready for use.
• Start the playback device so that a suitable signal is applied to the digital audio input of the
audio converter.
Then choose the correct analogue audio input e.g. on the amplifier.
Handling
• Use only in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one.
The condensation that forms might damage your unit. The wall plug transformer also poses
a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature, before connecting it to the power supply and
putting it into use. This may take several hours.
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transportation:
- Damp or excess air humidity
- Cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows,
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found close to machinery or loudspeakers
• Any maintenance or repair work may only be carried out by authorised personnel.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
Cleaning
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents as these
can cause discolouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent
scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-haired brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the house-
hold waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product in accordance with
applicable regulatory guidelines. You thus fulfill your statutory obligations and con-
tribute to the protection of the environment.
