Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einsetzen in einen ExpressCard-Port eines Notebooks vorgesehen
und stellt dort eine RS232-Schnittstelle zur Verfügung.
Dieses Produkt erfüllt die gesetzlichen, nationalen und europäischen Anforderungen.
Alle enthaltenen Firmennamen und Produktbezeichnungen sind Warenzeichen der

Installation
Stecken Sie die Karte in korrekter Orientierung in einen ExpressCard-Steckplatz des
Notebooks. Falls Ihr Notebook über mehrere solche Steckplätze verfügt, so ist es nor-
malerweise belanglos, welcher verwendet wird. Beachten Sie die Bedienungsanleitung
zu Ihrem Notebook, wie eine ExpressCard eingesteckt bzw. entnommen wird.
Windows erkennt daraufhin neue Hardware.
Legen Sie die mitgelieferte CD in das entsprechende Laufwerk Ihres Computers ein.
Zum Zeitpunkt der Erstellung dieser Bedienungsanleitung war der Treiber im
Verzeichnis „Moschip \ MCS9901" zu finden (und dort im jeweiligen Unterverzeichnis
für das von Ihnen verwendete Betriebssystem, z.B. Windows Vista).
Danach ist ggf. ein Neustart erforderlich, bevor die Karte einwandfrei funktioniert.
Bitte beachten Sie, dass die Karte eine „echte" schnelle ExpressCard ist; sie
basiert nicht auf USB-Technik. Das bedeutet, dass die Karte nicht in einfachen
USB-/ExpressCard-Adaptern funktioniert. Hier erfolgt keine Hardware-
Erkennung von Windows, der Betrieb der Karte ist nicht möglich.
Tipps und Hinweise
• Schließen Sie RS232-Geräte nur dann an die ExpressCard an, wenn der Computer
und die RS232-Geräte ausgeschaltet sind. Andernfalls kann es in Einzelfällen dazu
kommen, dass sowohl RS232-Gerät als auch die ExpressCard beschädigt werden!
• Die Schnittstellenbezeichnung (z.B. COM3) wird von Windows automatisch vergeben.
Entsorgung
Elektrische und elektronische Produkte dürfen nicht in den Hausmüll!
Entsorgen Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den gelten-
den gesetzlichen Bestimmungen.

Intended use
The product is designed to be installed in a laptop's ExpressCard port, to provide an
additional interface (RS232).

Installation
Insert the card correctly into an ExpressCard slot on the laptop. If your laptop has seve-
ral ports, it does not matter which of the ports you use. Consult the operating manual for
your laptop i.e. how an ExpressCard should be inserted and removed.
Window will then recognise the new hardware.
Place the CD provided into an appropriate drive on your computer.
At the time of creation of this manual the driver could be found in the folder
„Moschip\MCS9901" (in the respective operating system folder, such as e.g.
Windows Vista).
It might be necessary to restart your computer, to ensure the correct functioning of the
card.
Tips and Instructions
• Only connect RS232 devices to the ExpressCard when the computer and the
RS232 devices are switched off. Otherwise, in some cases, the RS232 device as
well as the ExpressCard might be damaged!
• The interface name (e.g. COM3) is automatically assigned by Windows.

Please note that the card is a „real" fast ExpressCard; it does not use USB tech-
nology. This means that the card does not work in simple USB/ExpressCard
adapters. The Windows hardware recognition will not be conducted, therefore
operating the card is impossible.
Electrical and electronic devices must not be disposed of in the domestic
waste.
When disposing of an unserviceable product, do so in keeping with the rele-
vant statutory regulations.
