SCART-/HDMI Converter
Item no. 98 92 71
Intended use
The product is used to convert an analogue SCART AV signal into an HDMI-compatible AV signal.
Furthermore, an HDMI input is available so that the converter can also be used as a switch (between the
SCART and the HDMI input).
An analogue and a digital audio output make the audio signal available separately from the AV signal.
The external wall plug transformer enclosed is used to supply the power.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any resulting damage!
W e do not assume any liability for material damage and personal injury caused by im-
proper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty
will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not permitted for safety and approval
reasons (CE). Never dismantle the product.
• The product is not a toy. Devices operated using mains voltage must be kept out of the reach of children.
Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Use the product where it is out of the reach of children.
• The product is intended for use only in dry, indoor locations. No part of the product should become damp or
wet; never handle it if your hands are wet!
Wall plug transformers have the potential to cause a fatal electric shock!
• The design of the wall plug transformer complies with Protection Class II. Use only a standard mains socket
as the power source for the wall plug transformer.
The mains socket into which the wall plug transformer is plugged must be easily accessible.
• Use only the wall plug transformer supplied to power the SCART/HDMI converter.
• Do not pull the wall plug transformer from the mains socket by pulling on the cable. Hold it on the sides of
the casing and pull it out of the mains socket.
• If the wall plug transformer is damaged, do not touch it; there is life hazard from electric shock!
First, switch off the mains voltage to the socket to which the wall plug transformer is connected (switch off at
the corresponding circuit breaker or remove the safety fuse or switch off at the corresponding RCD protec-
tive switch, so that the socket is fully disconnected).
You can then unplug the wall plug transformer from the mains socket. Dispose of the faulty wall plug trans-
former in an environmentally friendly way; do not use it any more. Replace it with a wall plug transformer of
the same design.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous plaything for
children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental falls, even from a low
height.
Connection and Getting Started
• If needed, glue the 4 provided rubber feet to the underside of the converter.
• Connect the SCART input ("SCART Input") of the converter to your playback device, e.g. a video recorder,
using a SCART cable.
• Connect the HDMI output ("HDMI Output") to the corresponding input of a television or monitor.
If all available HDMI inputs of the television/monitor are occupied, you can connect one of the devices
connected there to the HDMI input ("HDMI Input") of the converter, since this has a built-in switch (to switch
later, use the "CVBS/HD" button).
• The audio signal is available at two different outputs.
- 3.5 mm stereo jack socket ("Audio"), analogue stereo audio signal, line level
- cinch socket ("Coaxial"), digital audio signal
• Connect the low voltage round plug of the enclosed wall plug transformer to the corresponding socket on
the converter.
• Plug the wall plug transformer into a mains socket.
• Switch on all devices connected to the converter. Select the correct input on the television/monitor, if
required.
• You can switch between the HDMI input ("HDMI Input") and the SCART input ("SCART Input") using the
"SCART/HD" button.
The "PAL/NTSC" button is used to switch the image refresh rate at the HDMI output (PAL = 50 Hz, NTSC =
Version 12/13
60 Hz).
Select the resolution for the video signal at the HDMI output with the "720P/1080P" button.
Handling
• Use is permitted only in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet! There is a risk of a
life-threatening electric shock!
• Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room to a warm one. The conden-
sation that forms might damage the product under certain circumstances. The wall plug transformer also
poses a risk for a potentially fatal electric shock!
Allow the product to reach room temperature before connecting it to the power supply and putting it to use.
This may take several hours.
• Avoid the following adverse conditions at the installation location and during transport:
- Excessive humidity or damp
- Extreme cold or heat, direct sunlight
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations, impacts or blows,
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found in the vicinity of machinery or loudspeakers
• Any maintenance or repair work may be performed only by an authorised repair shop.
• When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor pinched.
Cleaning
Prior to cleaning the device, pull the wall plug transformer out of the mains socket.
Use a clean, dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, as these can cause dis-
colouration. Do not press too strongly on the surface when cleaning, to prevent scratch marks.
Dust can easily be removed using a clean, long-bristle brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal
Electrical and electronic devices do not belong in the household waste.
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations.
