HANDLING and MOUNTING
of EnOcean STM Solar Cell
Version 08/05 (lead-free soldering)
Please handle the solar panel with care!
•
Prevent injuries due to the sharp glass edges.
•
Always handle the modules carefully, avoid damage of the glass
edges which could lead to glass breakage. The layers are sensible
against punctual pressure, scratching or grinding. During handling
and mounting always make sure that no particles will be pushed into
the coating. Scratches, imprints or particles pushed into the layer
can lead to short circuiting of the module, thus deterioration.
•
The processing of the modules with lacquer spray processes or edge
grinding could lead to an impairment of the electrical function of the
module (electrostatic influences).
•
In case of necessary module cleaning, the following cleaning agents
are suggested: Kleenex (Code 7107, D 0261 8930, Kimberly-Clark)
/ highpure DI- water / Ethanol (min. 99,8 Vol.%).
The solar panel has 4 connection pads on the back side (see STM Product
Documentation). After delivery the connection pads have punched removable
plastic points. These have to be taken off before soldering. We recommend using
a soft plastic tip or finger nails to lift them up. In any case the metal coatings
should not be scratched or damaged. Please do not remove the plastic strip on
the active area of the solar panel!
The function of the solar module may be impaired by exceeding
the recommended soldering temperature and the specified soldering
time. Please use this type of solder wire only:
•
Solder type:
o EDSYN SC lead-free, Sn99Cu1, Ø 1.0 mm
o Distributed by EDSYN GmbH in Kreuzwertheim, Germany
•
Soldering station:
•
Soldering temperature:
•
Soldering time:
Both GND pads should be soldered by separate wires, because smearing of
solder over the gap should be avoided. The top metallic layer of the solar module
consists of Ni. The wires can be soldered directly to the blank metal coatings. For
further mounting notes please see the STM User Manual!
