SCART Switch Box

Intended use
The SCART switch box is used to connect the in and outputs of audio/video devices
(AV devices) with one another.
It is admitted only for connection to the audio and video in and outputs of corresponding
AV devices.
The device may only be used indoors; outdoor use is not permitted. Contact with moisture, for
example in bathrooms, must be avoided.
Any other use than that described above, could lead to damage to this product and involves the
risk of short circuits, fire, electric shock, etc.
No part of the product should be altered or modified, and the housing must not be opened.
Always observe the safety instructions.
This product complies with the national and European legal requirements.
Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe
these safety instructions! We do not assume liability for any resulting damage.
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused
by improper use or failure to observe the safety instructions. The warranty will
be void in such cases.
The exclamation mark symbol indicates important information in these
operating instructions.
• For safety reasons (CE), any unauthorised conversion and/or modification to the product is not
permitted.
• Never position containers containing liquids, such as glasses, buckets, vases or plants, in the
direct vicinity of the product. Fluids may enter the enclosure and thus damage the device.
• Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dripping or sprayed water, strong vibrations or
heavy mechanical stress.
• Do not place naked flames, such as burning candles, on or close to the device.
• If you have doubts about how the equipment should be operated or how to safely connect it,
consult a trained technician.
• Do not leave packing materials unattended. It may become a dangerous plaything for children.
• Do not use the device in a tropical climate.
• Comply with the safety and operating instructions of any other devices that are connected to
the device as well as the further safety instructions in the individual chapters in these
instructions.
• If in doubt about how to connect the device correctly, or should any questions arise that are
not answered in these operating instructions, please contact our technical advisory service or
another specialist.
Description of the Function
The SCART switch box has inputs for 3 AV devices whose signals can be recorded or played
back.
Selection of the signal to be reproduced and selection of the signal to be recorded is possible by
means of separate recording and reproduction selection switches.
A Hi-Fi system or an additional recorder can be plugged into the additional cinch-AV outputs for
audio playback or recording.
The device is RGB, S-VHS and Hi-8 compatible.
Connection
Only connect devices with same connections to the SCART-AV sockets and
cinch-AV plugs. Should your device not have the required inputs or outputs,

use a suitable adapter.
Only use suitable SCART and cinch cables for cabling.
Keep in mind that some of the sold SCART cables are not fully wired. These
cables can impair the efficiency of the device. If in doubt, consult an expert.
Carefully read the input and output connection and/or compatibility section in
the relevant operating instructions of the devices that are to be connected to
the adapter.
If these instructions are not observed, the SCART switch box or connected
appliances could be damaged.
Switch off the devices to be connected before connecting them to the con-
necting jacks. Do not put them into operation again until you have made all
necessary connections and checked them over once again.
Follow the same procedure, when changing the connection to any of the
devices.
• When connecting, observe the colour marking of the cinch AV plugs:
Yellow

Red
=
White

• Connect the AV outputs on the source devices to the INPUT A to INPUT C plugs. Connect your
recorder to the INPUT A socket.
• Connect the TV/MONITOR plug to the input on your TV, and the cinch AV plugs TV OUTPUT
and OUTPUT to the inputs on your stereo system or an additional recording device.
Use
• Switch your TV set or recording device to the AV programming place (see operating
instructions of the device concerned). If the device has an automatic AV change-over, this will
happen automatically when you start or turn on a source device.
• Playback
Press the appropriate VIEW button (A, B or C) on your source device. If the source device (e.g.
game consoles), reproduces RGB signals, press the RGB button.
• Recording
Press the appropriate RECORD button, which corresponds to the desired recording mode (B-A
or C-A). To control the recording procedure on the TV, press the VIEW button A. You can also
watch another programme by pressing another VIEW button while recording.
When recording with two devices or when simultaneously recording and playing back, slight
losses in image brightness might occur depending on the system. Normally, these losses are
not or hardly visible. However, if you encounter significant deterioration of image quality,
please use a suitable AV signal amplifier.
Handling
Never use the device immediately after bringing it from a cold to a warm room. The condensation
that forms might destroy your unit.
Wait until the product is at room temperature before use. Wait until the condensation has
evaporated.
Maintenance and Care
The product does not have to be serviced and, except for occasional cleaning with a soft, dry
cloth, requires no maintenance whatsoever.
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions as these may damage the surface
of the housing.
Disposal
Please dispose of the product, when it is no longer of use, according to the current
statutory requirements.
