1 About this documentation

1.1 Validity
This documentation applies for the exchange of the modular scraper system or
lube unit on standard cylinders of series PRA, TRB, ITS, and CCL-IS.
1.2 Presentation of information
1.2.1 Warnings
In this documentation, there are warning notes before the steps whenever there
is a risk of personal injury or damage to equipment. The measures described to
avoid these hazards must be followed.

2 Notes on safety
Useful load falling from piston rod!
With a vertical mounting orientation of the cylinder, a load suspended on the
piston rod can fall when the compressed air supply is switched off.
Remove and secure suspended loads from the piston rod before you switch
u
off the compressed air supply.
Mechanical loads!
The cylinder or cylinder parts can be damaged if the scrapers are exchanged
improperly.
Make sure that the cylinder is not damaged by falling parts or incorrect tool
u
usage. Especially avoid damage to the piston rod and seals.
3 Scope of delivery
• 1x modular scraper system or 1x lube unit
• 1 set of assembly instructions
4 Preparing for exchange
1. Extend the piston rod.
2. Secure the suspended load.

3. Release the piston rod from the load.
4. Retract the piston rod.
5. Depressurize the cylinder.
6. Make sure the relevant section of the system is not under voltage and protect
it from being switched on.
7. Have a tool with a suitable wrench size ready (see Table 1).
For the modular scraper system with Ø 50 to 125 mm, you require a
hook wrench according to DIN 1810 A for assembly and disassembly.
5 Removing scraper or lube unit
Danger of burns caused by hot piston rod!
The piston rod warms up in operation, which may lead to burns.
Let the cylinder cool first.
u
1. Remove the nut from the piston rod.
2. Loosen the scraper or the lube unit with an appropriately sized wrench (see
Table 1).
3. Unscrew the old scraper or lube unit completely and remove it over the piston
rod.

6 Inserting scraper or lube unit
1. Guide the new scraper or lube unit over the piston rod up to the connection
thread.
2. Fasten the scraper or the lube unit with the specified tightening torque (see
Table 1).
Only for use with lube unit:
– Check the position of the lube nipple (see Fig. 5).
