TROIKA COS02 Handbuch

Congratulations on your new TROIKA compass.
It's compact, lightweight and hard-wearing. With its help,
you can find your way around everywhere. It's easy –
because you can use this compass in two ways:
1) With a map
2) To take bearings
Please note! Always hold your compass horizontally!
The sight is the mark below the compass mirror.
Re: 1) Orienteering with a map
- 'Align' the map
Aligning a map means positioning it so that the compass
directions printed on the map match up with the real
compass directions. To do this, turn the compass ring until
N (north) lines up with the sight. Align the black, vertical
line of the compass with the vertical meridian lines on the
map, and turn both of them until the compass needle
points toward N (north).
- Set the compass/find the direction
Now mark your current location on the map you just
aligned. Locate your destination – do not change the map
alignment while doing so. Draw a line on the map from
your starting point to your destination. Place one of the
compass's black lines over the line you drew – the sight and
the red arrow point in the direction you will go. Now turn
the numbered ring until the needle points to N (north)
again. You can now read your compass direction from the
sight.
- Start walking
Keeping the compass in this position, take it away from the
map. Tilt the mirror so that you can see both the sight and
the compass ring with the setting. Now turn yourself
around until the red needle points to N (north).
Find a destination – a special feature in the landscape such
as a tree, a sign, a raised hide, etc. – and walk towards it.
Once you have arrived, repeat the process described
above and go to your next destination.
Re: 2) Orienteering by taking bearings (without a map)
- Take the bearing of your destination
Tilt the mirror so that you can see both the compass ring
and the needle. Use the sight below the mirror to take the
bearing destination directly.
- Align the compass
Turn the compass ring until the red arrow is pointing north.
You can read your compass direction from the sight below
the mirror. Keep this setting – you will use it to verify your
direction in open terrain.
You want to go back? No problem!
Take the reverse bearing to go back to your last location.
You simply need to turn around until the red compass
needle is pointing to S (south). Avoid moving the ring!

Kompass.
Er ist klein, leicht und sehr robust. Mit seiner Hilfe werden
Sie überall Ihren Weg finden. Das ist ganz einfach, denn
Sie können diesen Kompass doppelt nutzen:
1) mit einer Karte
2) zur freien Peilung
Wichtig! Bitte halten Sie Ihren Kompass immer
waagerecht!
Das Korn ist die Markierung unterhalb des Kompass-
Spiegels.
zu 1) Orientierung mit Karte
- Karte „einnorden"
Eine Karte „einnorden" bedeutet, sie so hinzulegen, dass die
eingezeichneten Himmelsrichtungen auf der Karte mit den
realen Himmelsrichtungen übereinstimmen. Drehen Sie
dazu den Kompass-Ring, bis N (Norden) auf dem Korn steht.
Richten Sie die schwarzen, senkrechten Linien des
Kompasses an den senkrechten Linien der Karte aus und
drehen Sie beides solange, bis die Kompassnadel nach
N (Norden) zeigt.
- Kompass einstellen/Marschzahl ermitteln
Markieren Sie jetzt Ihren Standpunkt auf der eingenorde-
ten Karte. Suchen Sie Ihren Zielort – die Kartenausrichtung
wird dabei nicht verändert. Verbinden Sie Start und Ziel
mit einer Linie. Legen Sie eine der schwarzen Linien des
Kompasses an die eingezeichnete Linie – das Korn und der
rote Pfeil liegen in Marschrichtung. Drehen Sie nun den
Zahlenring so, dass die Nadel wieder auf N (Norden) steht.
Ihre Marschzahl können Sie nun am Korn ablesen.
- Schon geht's los
Der Kompass bleibt in dieser Stellung. Nehmen Sie ihn
jetzt von der Karte. Klappen Sie den Spiegel so, dass Sie
gleichzeitig das Korn und den Kompass-Ring mit seiner
Einstellung sehen. Jetzt drehen Sie sich bitte so lange, bis
die rote Nadel auf Norden zeigt.
Suchen Sie sich einen Zielpunkt, einen Punkt in der Land-
schaft, z.B. Baum, Schild, Hochstand o.ä. Gehen Sie auf ihn
zu. Wenn Sie ihn erreicht haben, machen Sie von dort aus
die nächste Peilung wie oben beschrieben.
zu 2) Orientierung durch freie Peilung (ohne Karte)
- Ziel anpeilen
Neigen Sie den Spiegel wieder so, dass Sie sowohl
Kompass-Ring als auch die Nadel sehen können. Peilen
Sie Ihr Ziel direkt an – mit dem Korn unterhalb des
Spiegels.
- Kompass einnorden
Drehen Sie den Kompass-Ring so, dass die rote Spitze auf
Norden zeigt. An der Markierung unter dem Spiegel
können Sie Ihre Marschzahl ablesen. Diese Stellung wird
nicht mehr verändert, damit Sie auf freiem Gelände Ihre
Richtung überprüfen können.
Sie möchten umkehren? Kein Problem!
Eine Rückpeilung bringt Sie an Ihren letzten Standort. Sie
brauchen sich selbst nur solange zu drehen, bis die rote
Kompass-Nadel auf S (Süden) steht. Achten Sie bitte
darauf, den Ring nicht zu bewegen.
