INTENDED USE
The InLine® USB Fingerprint Scanner is used to log in
a Windows computer and enables the unlocking of PCs
and notebooks with Windows operating system via fin-
gerprint. The user identifies himself by placing fingers
on the read head. The computer recognizes the authori-
zed user and gives access to the computer.
GENERAL WARNINGS
• Read this manual before using the USB Fingerprint
Scanner.
• Protect from dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
• Always keep the surface of the sensor clean to obtain
an adequate scan result.
IMPROPER USE
The following shall be regarded as improper use in the
sense of a foreseeable misuse:
• Do not open the device, avoid shocks, scratches or
other damage to the device.
FINGERPRINT
SCANNER
INTRODUCTION
The InLine® USB Fingerprint Scanner is used to log in
a Windows computer and enables the unlocking of PCs
and notebooks with Windows operating system via fin-
gerprint. The Hello logon function of the Windows ope-
rating system is used for this purpose.
SETUP
Plug the InLine® USB Fingerprint Scanner into a free
USB 2.0 port on your computer. The hardware will be
installed automatically, no driver is required.
After successful installation the entry „ELAN Smart-id
Fingerprint" appears in the category „Biometric de-
vices" in the device manager.
The InLine® USB fingerprint scanner is now ready to
be configured for Windows Hello. To do this, navigate in
the Windows settings under „Accounts" to the submenu
„Login options". There you follow the setup wizard for
Windows Hello.
After successful setup, the InLine® USB Fingerprint
Scanner can be used to log in to Windows or to unlock.
