HISTORISCHER HINTERGRUND
Der Fairmile H-Typ war ein britisches Landungsboot im zweiten
Weltkrieg. Im Jahre 1942 wuchs in Großbritannien der Bedarf an
Landungsschiffen, um Operationen an feindlichen Küsten durchzuführen
und dadurch Truppen des Gegners zu binden. Da die großen Werften
ausgelastet waren, besann man sich auf die bewährte Fairmile-Methode
und die Boote wurden als Bausatz in kleineren holzverarbeitenden
Betrieben gefertigt. Diese Bausätze wurden dann von Werften an der
Küste zusammengebaut.
Die Fairmile H hatte 17 Mann Besatzung und konnte 6 Offiziere und 96
Mann Landungstruppen unter Deck befördern. Diese verließen das Boot
über vier bewegliche Rampen am Bug. Bewaffnet waren die
Landungsboote mit zwei 20mm Oerlikon Flugabwehrgeschützen, 2 Twin-
Lewis 0,303in Maschinengewehren sowie Rauchgeneratoren.
Insgesamt wurden 40 Boote im Jahr 1942 gebaut, davon gingen acht
verloren, fünf davon bei der Landung in der Normandie.

BAUANLEITUNG
1 Grundplatte, Mittelträger, Spanten, Deck
Grundplatte auf einer ebenen Fläche (Glas- oder Plexiglasplatte) so
fixieren, dass sie später wieder gelöst werden kann. Mittelträger auf den
Linien der Grundplatte ausrichten und festkleben. Die Spanten von der
Mitte aus jeweils zum Bug und Heck abwechselnd einkleben. Die
bedruckte Seite der Spanten muss zum Heck zeigen. Beim Deck 1l die
schwarzen Linien ausschneiden und Deck aufkleben. Bug und
Heckspiegel 1m an das Deck ankleben, beide schließen oben bündig ab.
2 Bordwände
Bordwände zunächst zwischen den beiden Linien rillen und falten.
Anschließend den Schlitz am Bug an den Schnittkanten
zusammenkleben. Am Heck beginnen und Bordwände an Grundplatte
und Deck ankleben. Scheuerleisten 2b über die Schnittkanten am Bug
kleben.
3 Deck
Schwarze Linien ausschneiden und Deck aufkleben. Luken anbringen.
4 Former, Rampen
Entsprechend der Markierung aufkleben.
5 Lüfter
Lüfter 5a herstellen und am Bug aufkleben. Kiste 5b aufkleben.
6 Steuerstand
Steuerstand 6a falten und aufkleben, Wand 6b anbringen. Verstärkung
6c um den Steuerstand kleben. Kisten 6d seitlich aufkleben.
7 Innenausbau Steuerstand
Ruderstand 7a und Kompass 7b auf die Markierung kleben.
Positionslichter 7c außen an den Steuerstand kleben.

Fairmile H Landing Craft Infantry
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Fairmile H type was a British landing craft in WWII. In 1942 Great
Britain needed a small landing craft for raids on enemy shores with the
aim to ty down enemy troops. But the larger yards had no building
capacity left. So the Fairmile method of prefabricated boats was
remembered and the Fairmile organisation was asked to design the
craft. Small woodworking firms all over the country prefabricated the
parts and the kit was transported to the coast and assembled by smaller
yards.
The Fairmile H had a crew of 17 and was able to carry 6 officers and 96
men of landing troops under deck. The landing party left the boat over
four bow ramps. The Armament of the Fairmile H consisted of two 20mm
Oerlikon anti-aircraft guns, two Twin-Lewis 0,303in machine guns and
smoke making devices.
In total 40 boats were built in 1942, of which eight were lost in the war,
five of them during the Normandy landings.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
1 Hull base, hull spine, frames, deck
Fix hull base to a baseboard (glass or Perspex recommended); be sure
that it can be removed later. Align hull spine with the lines on hull base
and glue. Start with one of the central frames and glue the frames to hull
base and hull spine, alternately working towards bow and stern. The
printed side of the frames should point to the stern. Cut out black areas
of deck 1l and glue to frames and spine. Glue bow and stern 1m to deck
and base, both flush with the deck.
2 Hull sides
Score hull sides between the lines
and fold. Cut out the slot at the bow
and glue cutting edges together.
Begin at the stern and glue hull
sides to deck and base. Glue
rubbing strake 2b over the cutting edge at the bow.
3 Deck
Cut out black
areas and glue
deck in place. Glue
hatches to deck at
the markings.
4 Former,

5 Vents
Assemble vents 5a
and glue in place.

6 Helm stand
Fold helm stand 6a and glue around former. Add wall 6b. Glue
strengthening 6c around helm stand. Assemble lockers 6d and glue in
place.
