The user module 2 E / 2 A has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. You can wire up the input sockets directly
with sensors (NPN, via M12 plugs) in 2-wire or 3-wire connection according to IEC 60947-5-2. The
sensors are supplied with energy from the user module. For the short-circuit-proof output circuits,
you will require a supplementary external supply (24 V DC, PELV).

For putting the user module into service, the steps are as follows:

Set the address. To do this, use
- the addressing unit or
- the programming and service unit (PSG)
Valid addresses are 1 to 31. Use each address once only.
The user module's address can be changed no more than 15 times. After that,

the last valid address to be set will become permanent.

Fit the yellow AS-I conductor rail and the black AS-I power rail in the guides on
the coupling module FK-E. Pay attention to the colour coding!

Screw the user module tightly onto the coupling module.

Connect up a maximum of 2 sensors and 2 actuators to the M12 sockets (inside
thread).
• To attain degree of protection IP 67, insert closing plugs (Order No.: 3RX9802-0AA00) in the
M12 sockets not in use.
• The outputs and inputs must be electrically isolated from each other!
• In the event of an interruption in bus communication (master failure), the outputs are reset
after approximately 40 to 100 ms (watchdog).
• In the event of overloading of the sensor power supply, the module does not respond to master
calls.
• If a switch is inserted in series with the output, inductive loads are to be provided with induc-
tion protection because the module's induction protection is inactive on operation of such a
switch.
• If an output is short-circuited or overloaded, the second output of the module, in so far as it is
switched ON, can be switched OFF.
