V-COM LED DIMMER INSTRUCTIONS
Use only on an electricity supply of 216V–253V 50Hz AC.
IMPORTANT: Read ALL sections below before installing this dimmer.

INSTALLERS – Please leave these instructions with your customer for future reference.
WARNING: Do not apply products with metal faceplates directly to freshly plastered or
damp surfaces as product may tarnish. If in doubt, use polythene as a temporary gasket
to protect the product. Do not use masking tape on faceplates.
This product complies with European Safety Regulations (IEC 669-2-1 or BSEN 60669-2-
1). At the time of installation it is the installer's responsibility to make sure that the
lamps in your installation are visibly on, even at the lowest brightness setting [see
"Adjusting the Minimum Brightness" at www.varilight.co.uk/manuals/v-com/en]. This
will allow your installation to comply with the EU EcoDesign Regulation 1194/2012.
DIMMER LOADING
Always observe the recommended minimum and maximum loads stated on the
dimmer. For mixed loads, follow the LED rating.
THIS SWITCH IS RECOMMENDED FOR
 Dimmable LED Lighting or mixed Halogen and Dimmable LED Lighting
THIS SWITCH IS ALSO COMPATIBLE WITH
 Good quality Dimmable Low Voltage Transformers [see "Transformers"]
THIS SWITCH IS NOT SUITABLE FOR
 Fluorescent bulbs and tubes
 Electric motors
OVERLOAD PROTECTION
This dimmer is protected against overheating and overload. If an overload occurs the
dimmer will turn off. In this case, switch off the dimmer, remove the overload and
switch back on again. However, if the dimmer receives a total short-circuit it may be
damaged beyond repair.
TRANSFORMERS
Use only with quality dimmable transformers. To calculate load, add the VA ratings of
the transformers (not the wattage of the bulbs). Choose transformers with a maximum
rating close to their lamp load (e.g. Use a 50VA, 60VA or 70VA transformer to control a
50W low voltage bulb).
FITTING YOUR DIMMER
Incorrect installation may damage the dimmer beyond repair.
In case of any doubt or difficulty consult a qualified electrician.
1. Switch off at the mains, then remove the existing switch and disconnect the wiring
from the switch terminals at the rear, taking note of the present wiring of the switch
and the marking on the terminals. Where there are two or more wires together in the
old switch, they must be kept together in the dimmer.
2. Ensure that any wall box is free of plaster lumps or projecting screw heads.
3. To connect the wiring for 1-way or 2-way circuits refer to the diagrams. Take care that
no bare wires project out of the terminals.
4. Keep wires together in a terminal if they were together in your old switch.
5. After connecting the wires screw the dimmer gently into the wall box so that the
front plate is not distorted or cracked. Do not trap the wiring between the rear of the
dimmer and the back of the wall box.
6. Once installation is complete. Switch on the mains supply and switch on the dimmer,
turning the control knob to give the desired light level.
Important: Disconnect the dimmer before carrying out insulation resistance testing.
Failing to do so could damage a dimmer and make the guarantee invalid.

INSTALLATEURS - Veuillez laisser ces instructions à votre client pour référence future.
AVERTISSEMENT: N'appliquez pas de produits avec des plaques frontales métalliques
directement sur des surfaces fraîchement enduites ou humides car le produit risquerait
de se ternir. En cas de doute, utilisez du polythène comme joint temporaire pour
protéger le produit. Ne pas utiliser de ruban adhésif sur les plaques.
Ce produit est conforme aux réglementations européennes de sécurité (IEC 669-2-1 ou
EN 60669-2-1). Au moment de l'installation, il incombe à l'installateur de s'assurer que
les lampes de votre installation sont visiblement allumées, même au réglage de
luminosité le plus faible [voir «Réglage de la luminosité minimale» à
www.varilight.co.uk/manuals/v-com/fr]. Cela permettra à votre installation
de se conformer au règlement UE EcoDesign 1194/2012.
UTILISER DE DIMMER - Respectez les charges minimales et maximales recommandées
indiquées sur le variateur. Pour les charges mixtes, suivez les conseils pour LEDs.

PROTECTION DE SURCHARGE - Ce variateur est protégé contre la surchauffe et la
surcharge. En cas de surcharge, le variateur s'éteindra. Dans ce cas, éteignez le
variateur, supprimez la surcharge et rallumez-le. Cependant, si le variateur reçoit un
court-circuit total, il peut être endommagé de manière irréparable.
TRANSFORMERS - Utilisez uniquement avec des transformateurs à gradation de qualité.
Pour calculer la charge, ajoutez les valeurs VA des transformateurs (et non la puissance
en watts des ampoules). Choisissez des transformateurs dont la puissance nominale
maximale est proche de celle de leur lampe (par exemple, utilisez un transformateur de
50VA, 60VA ou 70VA pour contrôler une ampoule basse tension de 50W).
INSTALLER VOTRE VARIATEUR - Une installation incorrecte peut endommager le
variateur de manière irréparable. En cas de doute ou de difficulté, consultez un
électricien qualifié.
1. Coupez l'alimentation, retirez le commutateur existant et déconnectez le câblage des
bornes du commutateur à l'arrière, en tenant compte du câblage actuel du
commutateur et du marquage sur les bornes. Lorsqu'il y a deux fils ou plus ensemble
dans l'interrupteur ancien, ils doivent être conservés ensemble dans le variateur.
2. Pour connecter le câblage des circuits simples ou va-et-vient, reportez-vous aux
schémas. Veillez à ce qu'aucun fil nu ne dépasse des bornes.
3. Gardez les fils ensemble dans un terminal s'ils étaient ensemble dans l'ancien.
4. Après avoir connecté les fils, vissez doucement le variateur dans le boîte
d'encastrement de sorte que la plaque avant ne soit ni déformée ni fissurée. Ne pas
coincer le câblage entre l'arrière du variateur et l'arrière du boîte d'encastrement.
5. Une fois l'installation terminée. Allumez l'interrupteur principal et le variateur en
tournant le bouton de commande pour obtenir le niveau de luminosité souhaité.
Important: Déconnectez le variateur avant de procéder à un test de résistance
d'isolement. Ne pas le faire pourrait endommager le variateur et invalider la garantie.
