Covers Parts #6212, 6213, 6214, 6215, 6235, and 6236
Tools needed:
· Micro screwdriver (supplied with model)
· Tweezers
This replacement procedure is only recommended for advanced users (14+)
with soldering experience. Soldering is required to replace the motors.
Soldering involves heat, requiring skill and precision to prevent product
damage and to avoid personal injury. Wear eye protection and use caution to
avoid getting burned when soldering. You should find a well-lit and clean area
to perform this repair. Very small parts are involved.
Steps 1-7 detail a complete canopy replacement. When replacing a motor only,
omit Step 4.
1. Remove the battery and (3) lower canopy screws from the helicopter.
Set them aside.
2. With the model held securely upside down in one hand, use the thumb of your
other hand to GENTLY bend back the rotor arm to disengage the lower canopy
arm extension. You will hear a click when it disengages. Repeat this for each
canopy arm extension. Set the lower canopy aside.
3. Carefully de-solder the motor wires from the circuit board. Remove the motor and
propeller blade by pushing or pulling it through the open end of the canopy arm.
Repeat for each motor.
Note: If you are replacing one or more motors only, proceed to Step 5. Take note
of the color of the motor wires to be replaced. The replacement motor(s) must be
equipped with the same wire colors for proper blade rotation.
4. Remove and retain the (2) holding screws from the circuit board. Lift the circuit
board from the upper canopy. Note: Reverse this step to install the circuit board
into the new or existing upper canopy.
5. Carefully thread the motor wires through the canopy arm and press the motor
into the holder. Carefully solder the motor wires to the circuit board [Red/White
wire to (+) and Black/Blue wire to (-)]. Reuse the existing propeller blade(s).
6. Reconnect the lower canopy to the helicopter by holding the model securely
upside down in one hand and aligning the lower canopy with the upper canopy.
Use the thumb of your other hand to GENTLY bend back the rotor arm. Press the
lower canopy arm extension down, then release the rotor arm. You will hear a click
as the lower canopy arm extension engages with the rotor arm. Repeat this for the
remaining lower canopy arm extensions.
7. Install the (3) lower canopy screws and the battery
from Step 1 to secure the assembly.
